Tell that to Burke, Essensa and Ranford.

Arvidsson has been a let down relative to our hopes but he really hasn't been THAT bad.

Skinner has been that bad, but he's youngish and not making a lot so there would probably be someone willing to take a shot that they can rebuild him.

There are redeeming qualities to both for other teams, and both are probably desperate to get out of here and try again. There is likely mutual interest to divorce.

How is he screwing over his teammates? He wants to play because he is healthy now. Why should he wait till playoffs and come in rusty?
A couple games should get him up to speed after multiple major surgeries and almost an entire regular season missed...

The guy can get up to speed in practice and in reduce playoff minutes, which wouldn't be the worst thing if the Oilers have another superstar they're able to bring in to bolster the team in the 1st round.

In other words, Kane will be most valuable in the later rounds. He's not going to be at an NHL pace whether he comes back two weeks before the playoffs or during the first round.

What's more, if it turns out he actually can't play due to his injuries, then the Oilers are totally screwed, because then they don't have Kane AND they don't have the guy they could have brought in with his LTIR space, all because he wanted to play a few games to "get up to speed."

This isn't about Kane being a warrior; it's about him being selfish if he's actually planning on making a stink about screwing the team so that he can play a handful of games.

Incoming overpay for a gritty d00d that will walk at the end of the season (assuming JJ doesn’t hand him an NMC)

Trade 1: Boston Bruins trade Trent Frederic (50% salary retained) to New Jersey Devils in exchange for unsigned draft choice Petr Hauser.

Trade 2: New Jersey trades Trent Frederic (50% salary retained) to Edmonton in exchange for unsigned draft choice Shane Lachance.

Trade 3: Boston trades Max Jones and unsigned draft choice Petr Hauser to Edmonton in exchange for Max Wanner, St. Louis' second-round pick in 2025 (owned by Edmonton) and Edmonton's own fourth-round selection in 2026.

Well that's a lot of moving parts, but they get Frederic at 25% on the cap, for a 2025 2nd, 2026 4th, Max Wanner and the rights to Shane Lachance (who is unsigned, I wonder if you were right about not signing @Canovin)

Edit and Max Jones too.

So we turned Broberg into Frederic, Jones and Hauser. That 2nd was probably our biggest trade chip for this year so hopefully Frederic really helps us in the playoffs.
