For what it's worth, he hasn't been the goalie coach there since being fire in Edmonton, he had to refine his craft, though he was the development goalie coach in Minny before becoming the main guy in 2020, but yeah, Flip Gustavsson was terrible in Ottawa, then got to Minnesota and has become an NHL starter, can't help but thing Chabot had a bit to do with that.

We replaced Chabot with this blowhard Schwartz in 2014, and for the last decade, not one single goalie has improved under this idiot.

Hmm, I see Skinner has the same 'high glove', giving up the 1st goal on the 1st/2nd shot against, or making himself look smaller in net aka the same issues very similar to previous goalies including Koskinen and Talbot.

Schwartz has and always will be a fraud. Gregor just sucks anybody's dick in the organization.

I wonder if he thinks teachers help students. Like this is the dumbest thing I have ever heard in my life. The whole f***ing purpose of coaches, across all walks of life, is to help you improve. "A goalie coach won't make an aggressive goalie less aggressive". Yes they absolutely f***ing will if will help their game. Doesn't Gregor talk about personal training all the time- what the f*** does he think that is?

I am cautiously optimistic that Skinner and Arvidsson are much more movable for their full cap hit (or close to it) than we might think regardless of the NMC's.

I don’t think any coach can make Skinner a great goalie but Dustin has to go.

Even if it’s not entirely his fault, I don’t understand how someone can have such little success at his job yet continue to be employed.
Let’s be honest though, the goalies we know Schwartz has worked with outside of our own haven’t exactly inspired confidence either.

Stuart and Schwartz both need to go in a package deal. And no amount of goalie coach can turn Stuart Skinner into an elite goalie. Like something was said about Datysuk, no hockey school can teach you what he can do.

I actually wonder about Kane and the Panthers. The Panthers are down some assets from the last couple of years, and Kane is a rugged, scoring forward who would basically come for free, I wonder if they would have interest here? Maybe the Oilers can even retain to facilitate it? Is Kane more attractive at $4M on the cap or even $3.5M?
I'd rather have Kane on the team for the playoffs. He's exactly what this team needs if he can be close to his old self.

Arvidsson has been a let down relative to our hopes but he really hasn't been THAT bad.

Skinner has been that bad, but he's youngish and not making a lot so there would probably be someone willing to take a shot that they can rebuild him.

Sometimes whether it is justified or not (which in this case, it clearly is), change has to be made because the negative perception of a person or thing has gone so far off the deep end it becomes a distraction and is not something that is fixable.

It's so beyond this point that Schwartz himself needs to take a look in the mirror if he doesn't get fired, but chooses to stay on. For some reason he seems to have some cahche in the goalie community (for some reason non-Oiler goalies work with him too in the off season). Just move on and get a job somewhere else where nobody knows your name. Enough already.
