You would think Katz would have learned after making this mistake twice before. Both times Zito and McCrimmon were there for the hiring while bringing new ideas and new outlooks on the game that proved to be successful elsewhere, but he opted to go with retreads who had been let go for exactly the same stupidity they brought here. We're on now on GM #3 who can't trade, draft, or negotiate to save his life. It's truly incredible how bad a billionaire businessman is at evaluating talent.

Keeping Kapanen in the lineup to play a position he hasn't played in forever is worse to me.
Just put Janmark at #4C and play JSkinner.
Skinner has to be moving. I have to think they're planning on using his 3 million elsewhere. If he's still here tomorrow, I think the way they've handled him is completely indefensible.

If Skinner is still here after the deadline I'd like to see a complete overhaul of management and the coaching staff because knob has done his best to make him a completely negative asset.
they will trade him right at the deadline but be too late to make the second trade and we will go into the playoffs with a ton of cap space.

Kovacevic would be a big time add, but it doesn't make sense why NJD would part with him and this reaffirms your inability to assess D-men.

Because they see him as the league does (or has) a depth defenseman. He might be a better player than that, but Winnipeg & Montreal both treated him as just a random depth guy.

If they are resting him to prevent injury and end up trading him zero issues with what Knob is doing, but I legitimately think he likes Kapanen more than J. Skinner and it's mind blowing to me.
For all the fretting about the depth and this and that up front - if Kane joins Frederic in the lineup that is a pretty significant shift to the good for this lineup, even if Kane is only comparable to last year (I'm optimistic he'll be better than a lot think). Especially when they will replace any of the useless slog of Podkolzin, Arvidsson, Janmark, Kapanen, Skinner, Brown, etc, etc.
I don't understand how some can sit here lamenting how small, soft, and useless the forward group is, only to also want Kane gone and are mad at the Frederic pickup. This group lacks energy, physicality and emotion across the board. These two bring it in spades.
