Speculation: Trade Rumors: Part IV

That's kind of irrelevant for this team. With the internal budget, Murray's never really gotten close to the ceiling, and almost certainly won't in 16-17. He's never done it as much as I maybe thought he would, but he's added a few guys with remaining salary being less than their cap hit(Blake, Visnovsky, Bourque).

I guess "salary" wasn't the right word to use. Your statement explains the point I was attempting to convey.

I was just looking at it and wanted to show it to you if someone here was wondering it.

Have to say that as a finn I'd love to see timonen playing in anaheim,
he was still training everyday while "injured" and he's someone you can play in every situation+ his cap hit isn't too bad.
+ he gets to play around 20 games, I don't think you would regret it.

That doesn't exactly make one an injury risk. He has been one of the more durable players around and has always been a very healthy and fit guy. If anything, his condition this year might make him a bit of a health risk (hardly the same as injury risk), but even that should be quantifiable by the medical staff(s).

I'm not denying there's a risk that's at least higher than with guys that have been playing, but I don't think it's necessarily too high, and the upside with him easily trumps virtually anything on the market.
we don't need anymore gambles, we need some guys who can step in right now and help this team with a certain degree of certainty

I don't think I'd even call him a gamble, no more than any other defenseman. I believe in him that much.

Having said that, I don't really want him. I love the game he plays and everything he brings to the table, but he's just not what we need.

40 year old players are always gambles, regardless of their injury history. Every player reaches a certain point where he just can't do it anymore. Timonen may have a couple more years but he also could fall off the map.

I agree with Keerole on this. We need a guy who we know is going to come in and help this core out. Someone in their prime that has a history of success. I respect Timonen's career but he is just too old when you consider our current situation on the blue line

Lupul rumors are heating up. As bad as his contract is with his injury problems.... The term on his contract is about the remainder of our "window" for the cup, and he is a regular producer when he is in. He could be a solution to the crowd that doesn't want to trade Theo or any other coveted pieces for scoring help. Leafs fans are currently asking for a 2nd round pick, or cap dumps, plus roster forward. I wonder if Bourque + Etem with some salary retained would do the trick.

rather have glencross instead of lupul.
not against glencross i just dont see him as a true top 6 forward, but if we got him and a good defensemen, and it pushed bork and lovejoy/stoner down we would be a better team when we get beleskey and vatanen back

Lupul can make a 14 team list. If the trade goes down it will mean he has no problem returning. But i hope we are not interested in him, he has 3x5,25m left after this season - that is more than 1,6 Stoners (next season Lupul will receive almost 7M in real salary) . And i don`t think GMBM is interested in him.

I haven't watched zidlicky at all this season. Does he have any of his former ability?

Edit: and the more I think about Wiz the more I like it. Good skater, good shooter, has a ton of attitude that we just don't have. His defensive reads were adequate, especially when he wasn't being over aggressive. If it's true that his actual salary is manageable (damnit capgeek), then I'm completely on board.

From what I've seen, he's pretty much the same as last season.

Great on the PP, hasn't really slowed down, but he's still a bit of a liability in his own zone, and relies on his partner to bail him out a bit.

...waaaait a minute.

I think it`s managable for us as he makes 5M this and next season and 3M after that.

But someone needs to go or Samuellis needs to open that wallet (which i`m not convinced with)

13) Libel: Any posts libeling players, prospects, or hockey personnel. It's not acceptable to post that you heard Player X has a drinking/drug/sex/personal problem from a "good" source. Do not post information that can be considered defamatory without a link to a credible media source. Other forums, personal websites, hearsay, and personal testimonials are not considered credible.

Just a heads up on the site rules - if you don't have a link, don't make any allegations (and saying "allegedly" doesn't cover it with specific allegations)

Seems fishy they waive Bryz just to call LaBarbera up. Unless they feel Bryz is now all of a sudden "rusty" (has been all season)

I think it's more to do with a disgruntled player being removed. Boudreau clearly didn't want to play Bryz and I can't imagine he was being a particularly good sport about it. Hell he may have even asked to be moved. Can't have that in the locker room.

Ill put my head back in the sand then.

You can say you think that the organization doesn't like him. You can even say you think that his behavior wasn't appropriate. What you can't do is give specifics and say a player drinks the blood of kittens or something along those lines unless you can link it.

For the record, I don't want him anywhere near the team either.

Would be gravy to see the contract terminated, but I don't know how a guy who has already played his last NHL game is going to leave ~700k(think i read that somewhere, correct if wrong figure) on the table.

He is getting paid over a million a year for like another decade I think from the Flyers so he can afford to walk away if he doesn't want to ride the bus for the next month and a half. Still 728K is a lot of money but let's be honest, the 1.2 mill he's made already is a hell of a lot more than I'm sure he was expecting to make when he was sitting on his couch in November. Who knows? I just get the vibe he'd rather hang 'em up but that's just completely my gut feeling.

It helps when he already was paid $1.6 million this year by the Flyers, and will get that much from them every year for the next 12.
