Hemsky (ret) + Jones to DET for Abdelkader
Gagner to TO for Gardiner and/or Franson (Pretty Plz MacT)
NSchultz to MTL for 2014 5th
Smyth to Cup run team for a 4th (BOS?)
Corey Power Potter Play to a desert island
Maybe Dubnyk to a team in need of a back up for a 2nd or 3rd.
Maybe Bryz to a team in need of a back up for a 2nd or 3rd.

I love reading these trade proposals where the worst team in the league ships their crappiest players and get solid assets in return... Some of those oilers aren't even NHL caliber players (Jones, Smyth) while I'm fairly certain Hemsky has been shopped for over a year and now a Pro organization like Detroit is going to give up Justin Abdelkader for him?? That is fudging laughable. Dubnyk and Bryz? Hilarious. Gagner for Gardiner or Franson?? Even funnier. He's one of the worst players on this horrid team!

To get anything, they are going to have to give up solid assets, further weakening the team... Doomed.

trades: need to give up top tier- to get top tier

Fans need to realize that if were going to make a trade that brings back top tier players we are going to have to give up top tier players.

Almost every proposed deal I see has our 2nd tied guys being moved in exchange for some of the NHLs most desirable players. I don't see proposed trades like this happening or being realistic.

Many proposed trades involve Yak. Sure, the guy is a former number one pick but he has done little in his recent NHL. The reason why we want to trade him as opposed to RNH or Hall is the same reason why no team is going to pay a high price for Yak. If we want a top player in return, we are going to have to give up a desirable asset.

Management and fans need to realize that to get some top tier help we are going to need to give up some top tier youth.

I wouldn't doubt if 99% of the roster can't wait to abandon this sinking ship.

Can't wait til draft picks refuse to come to Edmonton. And everyone can forget about getting prime free agents like Phaneuf, Hiller and OTT.... Those guys have agents that won't want them coming to EDM at any price... Why would they? Tons of teams will want them.

N. Schultz for a late pick.
I. Bryzgalov for a late pick.

Oilers extend Hemsky, Belov and Dubnyk.

The rest of the pending UFA's are shopped but unable to land anywhere.

Smyth tells management he wants to stay home instead of playing in the post-season with another team.

Far more realistic...

This franchise is such a joke ... now they're probably going to deal Gagner ... for peanuts. Could've gotten much more for him in the summer, probably could've moved up the draft to take Seth Jones.

Bold my ass, Mac T.

Part of this franchise's problem is they sit on their ass when there are golden oppurtunities just starting them right in the face. Seguin was available this summer. Seth Jones probably could've been had as he started to slide in the draft.

Players like Gagner, Hemsky, etc. were perfectly replaceable by guys like Grabovski and Penner.

But noooooo. We "love" Sam Gagner's character. Mac T bought that sad sap "you know Gagner's an Oiler" line from his agent hook, line, and sinker.

Ya but these "what ifs" and "could haves" your spewing is a bunch of ********. Doubtful we could have got either Jones or Seguin without an overpayment that wouldn't have been even worth it. Also, neither of those additions would have made this team significantly better. Just as soft up front, and just as inexperienced on the blueline.

Garrioch is saying that T.O and the Devils are interested in Gagner. Anyone see Tracey Lane was tweeting that after the roster freeze the Oilers will be making a deal it two.

In trying to do right by the player, Gagner to Toronto for Gardiner makes sense to me. Perhaps his fiancee can get a residency switch. Although the logistics of that now that I think about it are unlikely. Atleast the flights are direct and often.

Felt like I got punched in the stomach with each sentence. That's how disturbingly accurate this post is.

One thing I'd change though, is I doubt we get offers for Smytty anyways.

Uh Smyth would be a decent 4th liner / PKer to a playoff team for a late pick (maybe 4th not late enough), Hemsky retained + conditional pick is not a horrible package for Abdelkader who has WHOOP 1 more point than Smyth atm in more games. Jones was just an easy addition for a 4th liner but doesn't need to be there, doesn't matter.

Dubs and Bryz would be sufficient back ups for late picks.

Gagner for Gardiner fills needs both ways, not necessarily the trade that could or would occur but something along the lines. Who knows.

I love forumites who feel the need to say nonsensical garbage for no other reason than to pet their high horse.

I'm thinking if CrackT had a trade agreed upon with Gagner involved he would just call said player and mention it to him. Maybe Gagner would just say yes because he won't feel wanted by the team. I dunno.

MacT would NEVER!!! consider trading Good Ol Gagner. He's the ultimate locker room presence and on top of that he pinky promised him that he wouldn't be traded.

Gagner's gotta know that if he is not living up to his end of the contract he signed, that beats out a pinky swear any day and he will be shipped out.

If you can get Adam Larsson for Sam Gagner, you do it without hesistation, but Mac T gave his word and all.

Teams that suck this bad are a special case where promises and oaths of loyalty get broken.

Fans are literally throwing in the towel on this team... MacT HAS to do something.

Trading Gagner at the lowest point of his career probably isn't the brightest move.

I know a lot of people ar epissed because the team is losing but it's not 1 player that's getting shut out every night, or giving up all these ridiculous scoring chances, and the team was completely awful b4 Gagner even started the season.

All this talk about Arco being a great 2nd line c is based on what? The team's 3-8-2 start to the season b4 Gagner came back? Lol.

just stay with rebuilding from within.
No need to trade.
Just make sure you pick defender from time to time or the team will be slaughtered the next 10 years from now.
The problem is your time window. As more loses you get as more the desire of the top players grow to sign at a real team.

Actually you should have traded for Bernier when he was cheap
and drafted a D man instead yakupov.
you would be a playoff team right now

Except LA wouldnt trade Bernier to us and as a matter of fact made Toronto promise not to flip him to us or Calgary. And if you think Ryan Murray is the reason we're not in the playoffs give your head a shake.

The part we really messed up on is not outbidding TB for Bishop.
