Stay as far away from Green as possible. I live in the Baltimore/DC area and have seen him go from fan favorite to their version of Wade Redden. His game has regressed and his contract is outrageous. I wouldn't even trade a 3rd-rounder for that mess.

Would the Sharks move Tennyson? I watched him a good bit when he was hyped as an undrafted NCAA FA. Lot to like in his game. Though I think we'd all prefer a forward.

He is one of the only players I'd want from San Jose. I'm not enamored with their system.

Nieto, Tennyson, and Wingles.

Pretty accurate. Unreal how much he's regressed.

So a legitimate writer is making things up? If you feel that way I don't what to tell you.

Whatever, I don't care, just wanted to point out the Canucks offered more.

I'll give you my take for what it's worth,

The Post has learned
known around the league
The Post has been told
League sources report

Those are different than

"It originally was reported in this space Callahan’s asking price is seven years for $42 million. Wrong, according to a general manager of one club who has been in touch with Sather about dealing for Callahan, and who told The Post it is, “Seven years at six plus-plus-plus [million per].” So let’s posit, seven years at $47 million."

The first ones, I'd say most are speculation or at best come from sources that probably are speculating as well.

The last one, that is legit, there is a source cited, there is no ambiguity.

I understand the desire for the Rangers to get back a 3rd liner in a trade for Callahan to plug that hole instantly, but I don't think the teams that would have interest in him match up well for that kind of trade.

Rather just get pure futures like SJ did for Clowe.

I was with you this far. The rest, no no no. Every team in this league should be able to fill third line minutes from their own organization. Never bring in a veteran, unless the cupboard is empty to fill these kind of roles. Callahan's minutes make him much more than a third liner that we need to fill, but they don't have to be filled all by one callup. Much more likely those minutes are spread out

The Rangers could, sure.

I guess it all depends of what you think of this current Ranger team.

I wouldn't be so against replacing Callahan with JT if we got a really high quality futures offer in return, and we could go right into the rental market again anyway. At the same time it is always important to note that the whole team minus Dorsett is healthy - unfortunately, that can change.

I think Fast, Kristo or Miller can replace 10 minutes pretty easily right now in Callahan's spot. His PK time, PP time and other important minutes would have to be divided up by some of the other players.

I think that would be fine.

What's with the infatuation with Kristo? I always see people penciling him in to next years roster or bringing him up this year. I've watched him and there's nothing impressive about him, IMO. I'd much rather still have Thomas who's 21 as opposed to Kristo who turns 24 in a few months. Thomas produces similarly in the AHL currently, is younger, and has the big shot we so desperately lack. That trade made no sense to me then and almost as little sense to me now

Kristo is much closer to being an everyday NHLer. He has some rough edges but the kid sees the ice very well and creates offense.

Gang, for what it's worth I went to the Sharks board before last Friday and asked them if they'd do Cally and Dorsett for Nieto/Havlat/1st and they all said no...well more like NO!!!!

They're under the impression that the Sharks are really looking for a PMD and viewed Cally as redundant with the top 6 set for the PP and Hertl coming back most likely in March.

The trade they countered with was Cally/Dorsett for Kennedy/Havlat/3rd.

I like the Sharks, always have but if the Nieto thing goes through, I may have to go back to their board and say HAH

Montreal selected McDonagh with their #1 and PK Subban with their 2nd. Pacioretty with the Sharks #1. Great draft.

That's an unbelievable draft. Had they kept McDonagh, they'd have been legit Cup contenders right now.

Classic HF response.

You have something of value that many in the league will be bidding on, but I love all my young players that I've been following since they were drafted, so here's all the crap I don't really care about. That should be enough - otherwise you're overvaluing YOUR asset, despite what decades of hockey deadlines have shown to be true.

****, if we took Havlat, we should get EXTRA compensation from them as that's a straight salary dump. We'd be doing them a favor.

I'm not at all worried that Boyle will come out of the lineup and Carcillo will stay in.

Lets hope. Boyle brings an element of defensive responsibility that this team lacks.

Carcillo has gone about his job effectively and relatively quietly. Dorsett plays like an idiot too much for my liking.

Only other option is dropping D. Moore, which I don't think is an option. guy plays with a ton of heart and has decent skill for the 4th line

I wish Jagr could end up back up on this team. Him on that 2nd line would create a great dynamic on our offense. We have a balanced attack as is, but sometimes, our 2nd line has the tendency to completely disappear. Jagr would make that line more consistent.

Too bad he went to the Devils.

As for what Bobbop and Dags said. Cally is gonna have to realize he's getting 6-7 from Buffalo or another bottom feeder, or he'll have to take a pay cut for a contender. If we come to an agreement with SJ, i'm sure Cally's agent will be able to gauge the interest from the Sharks to resign him and understand that's just the reality of the situation.

IF he's hell bent on 7 million, he'll go to Buffalo. That's the most logical solution. If he's more inclined to win, he may resign here, or with another team that offers him slightly more than us.

Sending an extended Callahan to Buffalo could get us young pieces that would be crucial to our success. Extended Cally should be able to yield us Grigorenko and that Islanders 1st.

A lot of this board didn't want Clowe last year and you see where that got us. Fans opinions mean jack in the grand scheme of things.
