HF Habs: Trade Proposal Thread #93: Y'all got any more of those 2nd line centers out there?

Jonathan Toews is training in Arizona and seems in good health.

Should the Habs try to hire him for their 2nd line ? Or 3rd line ? For a couple of seasons.

And even with Ray it was his last season, with everyone aware he was retiring. Final hurrah & chance to win the Cup after an entire career of unwavering loyalty to Bruins
Not his last season, don't think he won a cup the season he was traded. Came back next season to win.

No, he was brutal before leaving. A long hiatus won’t help him.

I suspect Toews is suffering from a specific health issue, but I won't say which one on here.

If so, it's a mystery whether he can bounce back, but it's possible.

No just no
At least you’re consistent. You’ve been against acquiring a stopgap centre and I’m good with that if Hughes can pull off a longer term solution.

However, based on what I’ve seen at last trading deadline, there are way too many teams looking for 2Cs and too few sellers. If Hughes strikes out on a long term guy and won’t go the offer sheet route, what’s left?

How bad could it be to see Hage develop and to keep adding potential top 6Cs in the pipeline, while having that stopgap at the NHL level who can double up as a mentor?

When’s the last time the Habs drafted and developed a bona fide top 6C? It’s a chronic organizational flaw that will need to be addressed — why not now?

I mean Suzuki, but if we had to draft them then I'm gonna say Plekanec.

Ive beem watching the Habs for like 25-30 years and i can’t remember the Habs drafting and developping a top centerman. I was so excited when I heard they would go full rebuild but we endend up with two wingers and a Dman. I’m not saying they were not great picks but it’s kinda sad.

While he isn't the ideal physical RD that would fit nicely, I wonder if a deal with Chicago around Roy & Soderstrom could fit both teams.

He had a very good year on a good team in the SEL (top pair role on best regular season team then lost in finals).

He's got big time Forsling-vibes, including the early knock on his NHL fit being his size/strength... But his hockey IQ, skating & competitiveness are all high end. Seems exactly like the kind of player HuGo would value, and with Murphy/Rinzel/Levshunov likely to be in place at RD for Chicago, they may not have the appetite for inserting another rookie dman into the mix... And he's only coming back to NA if he can earn an NHL regular spot.

Straight forward Joshua Roy for Soderstrom.

Or, a bigger deal...

To Chi
Matheson, Roy, Price LTIR

To Mtl
Soderstrom, Dickinson
'26 NYI 2nd & '27 Chi 3rd

(Matheson & Price LTIR for 2 picks and Dickinson works for us in freeing up cap space while adding stop gap bottom 6 LH C who is strong on PK.... Buys time for Beck or Kapanen to start year in Laval, by January if either have propelled past him, he's a solid deadline trade asset or playoff depth.

Hawks could use vet LD upgrade and have the cap flex to absorb Price's LTIR easily & have option to extend Matheson if he's a great fit, or trade him for deadline premium to recoup picks+

If Toews wants league min for one year try him. He can be a work ethic model at the very least.

Unsure about his weirdo John Lennon/George Harrisson episode but hey
lol the exact opposite.
They were doing copious amounts of drugs.
He was healing himself.
