People are crazy to want Rossi. The Wild don’t have any talent or centres and even they don’t want to keep him. 5’9 centre behind our 5’11 centre? We’d get demolished in any series.
That won’t even be an issue. Canes do not hand out bonus structured contracts & now are insistent on deferred payment contracts - which is what they proposed to Rantanen, who had no interest in being paid over next 20-30 yearsIf he signed with the Canes don't want him anyway. At least show some interest in winning. Montreal at least would have a chance to win the Cup.

Marner type UFAs want as much contract $ in as near term as possible w 90%+ paid in bonuses on July 1st
Habs have traditionally had no issue in handing out heavy bonus structured contracts
Ah i see. Thanks for the insight!Nope, he definitely played a hardnosed game for his size and had a very high IQ in the CHL.
And that is the problem.
Marco Rossi was already physically-mature at 18/19, and hasn't really added much strength since.
As a result, he can get smothered on the boards just as easily as Caufield when he doesn't have body position, or when players go at it 100%, like in the playoffs.
As a center, involved in a lot more battles down low along the boards, that lack of size/strength of Rossi's is felt even more keenly, meaning that against an aggressive and physical team he can get a bit exposed and exploited.
Also, Marco Rossi produced a heck of a lot with Kaprizov on his line.
He had close to a PPG when Kaprizov was still playing. But after Kaprizov got injured, Rossi failed to build much chemistry with other players on the Wild, and that ultimately cost him a top-6 role for the Wild to end the season as he slumped BAD (ultimately leading to him being demoted to the fourth-line to start the playoffs).
So yeah, Rossi did end up finding some amount of success for the Wild in the playoffs and having a couple good games all things considered, but given the already-lacking size in the Canadiens' lineup and the presence of Caufield who's our own short-king, at this point I don't think that Marco Rossi is the best fit as 2C for us.
Gallagher has no bonuses in his contract all salary - last 2 seasons have been the highest salary payout $8M & $9M, and next 2 seasons his actual salary drops and he’s always had a 6-team NTC… so if anything he made it “easier” for Habs to deal him towards back end of contract![]()
If that has always been the case then MB's offer sheet does have some logic to it. And of course explains why Aho would have jumped on the offer sheet. As any Cane should.
The only reason to take deferred money is for tax reasons (but not for 20-30 years).
Gallagher likely took a back ended contract so he couldn't be traded.
I don't know why you bother anymore.Slafkovsky only played 39 games his rookie year. That's not a full season. It's not even half a season. He played 79 this year & 82 last year.
McTavish has played 76, 64, & 80 games over the last 3 years.
Not a chance Hughes goes after him.People are crazy to want Rossi. The Wild don’t have any talent or centres and even they don’t want to keep him. 5’9 centre behind our 5’11 centre? We’d get demolished in any series.
KotkaniemiOffersheets can works for guys like Broberg or Holloway. Guys on the verge of getting traded by their clubs, not for the McTavishs. When was the last time it worked on an up and coming star/real good player? Penner with Edm?
I do not see how these two things are at all relatedTrue we should keep Anderson 6'3 with no skills.
Do you want a small skilled guy or a big guy with next to no offensive ability.I do not see how these two things are at all related
Why do I have to choose between the two?Do you want a small skilled guy or a big guy with next to no offensive ability.
He’s also wrong.Slafkovsky only played 39 games his rookie year. That's not a full season. It's not even half a season. He played 79 this year & 82 last year.

I don’t think Schaefer plays nhl next yearPulock on the Islanders could be expendable if they draft Schaefer. Could be a decent option especially if we trade Matheson.
KK cant hold Mctavish jockstrap.Kotkaniemi![]()
No but I think with the real good drafts coming up, NyIslanders gonna go in full rebuild. Some guys like Pullock are gonna be available.I don’t think Schaefer plays nhl next year
All depends what new GM does. They may only small retool since they lucked out with lottery. No guarantee they start selling farm yet.No but I think with the real good drafts coming up, NyIslanders gonna go in full rebuild. Some guys like Pullock are gonna be available.
Who was the last player drafted 1st OA to not play in the nhl the following year?I don’t think Schaefer plays nhl next year
Who was the last player drafted 1st OA to not play in the nhl the following year?
I don’t know who hut i know it was a looong time ago.
It certainly wouldn’t be the norm for him to not play in the NHL next year, assuming he’s drafted 1st, as he should be.
Owen Power-less. Schaefer only player 17 games this season. They could send him back for another season in the OHL.Who was the last player drafted 1st OA to not play in the nhl the following year?
