HF Habs: Trade Proposal Thread #93: Y'all got any more of those 2nd line centers out there?

Hughes absolutely need to work some magic and address the 2C position in the off season either via UFA or trade. It's crucial and should be priority number uno with a big red urgent label attached to it.

None of Newhook , Dvo or Evans are suited for the task and all 3 are more effective when employed on bottom lines. And gambling on Dach again is too risky

agree.
gambling on dach is more then worth it but either a 2nd line winger or better on the third line

Get me a top 4 big towering dmen for next year on top of Reinbacher. Someone like Erik Cernak.

Then, get me a 2C that can play with Demidov.

Add some grit and speed: make big offer for Sam Bennett. Trent Frederic on the 4th line is good option.

Get rid of Laine.
Which is why the Habs need to draft Mrtka.. they can spot fill the 1RHD via trade.

1RHD, 2C : Habs are in fir 10 year run.

No habs need more talent. They have enough big guys who can't do much like Dvorak, Armia, Anderson.
Dvorak and Armia cant be compare to Frederik and Bennett..come on now! Anderson for a third liner is more than ok. We have a lot of small skilled players in our top6, the bottom 6 needs to be heavy to win a cup. Look at Tampa when they won.

We need one more skilled player to play with Demidov, but it wont be via ufa.

I don't even like Newhook on the third line unless it's on the wing. Even then, there are better role players for that line

Tampa's Nick Pebrix is 26, RHD, 6'4". He had 17min TOI last year and went down the depth chart with the emergence of other players (Raddysh, Cernak) to 14min TOI this year but he seems like he can hold his own. I think he is looking to cash in, so maybe he would be enticed by a 16.5m/4yr contract.

I haven't really scouted him, I'm just doing a scan of players by TOI, height and whatnot but he stood out due to his size and handedness.

Pebrix is, in fact, the only UFA RHD over 6'0" worth considering

With slightly adjusted parameters, pink highlight are players who have signed extensions and yellow are players I think are interesting to consider: Perbix and Dobson.

Slim pickings -- preferring Reinbacher to Michkov was not an irrational act on the part of Bobrov, Hughes, and Gorton.

Richard bouteilles EP40 is soffff
He's not as bad as he was this past year. VAN fans were so high on him and his two-way compete until the wheels fell off. It sounded a lot like how we praise Suzuki.

It would be a legendary gamble if we got him (and I don't think we will) but the upside is right there if his health and compete issues are cleared. On the downside, he had a very bad year and anything short of PPG is unacceptable at his cap hit -- the question therefore is simple: is he going to be PPG next year?

Or Zadorov

Hes soft, I dont want anything to do with him unless we move our soft forwards.

I understand hes skilled, but its crazy how soft this team is.

I agree with getting size and grit on the top 6 F and top 4 D.

I wouldn't mind guys like that :

Zadorov as no.4
Perbix as bottom 4 RHD to replace Savard
Frederic as bottom 6 player with grit to replace Armia.
Cernak would be a perfect add (top 4 RHD with size and physicality) but he is not disponible
Bennett as 2nd line center
If we go with a more talented 2C, I would like to get a big winger who can play top 6. I always liked Crouse but I think he had an awful season and I'm not sur he is legit top 6. Maybe more like a 3rd line.

They already gambled on Dach and it failed. It’s over
and from what we saw from him, he would make a greatt 3rd line winger.
Many still dont realise that if a player is not slotted correctly he will often fail, but can look great in his right position/line.
Best example is anderson.

Tampa won't and has no reason to trade Cernak

I’m really only interested in adding size/grit if it comes along with skill and a clear role. We would not be the first team to shoot themselves in the foot over-compensating after a heavy playoffs. Adding a physical dimension to our bottom lines (Armia/Dvorak) would make a big difference. A big RD that can PK would be great too.

Kesselring and Crouse could be good fits. Utah has more than enough RD on the team and in the pipeline, Crouse looks like he could use a change of scenery.

Wishlist (emphasis on wish):
Crosby to replace Dach as 2C
Cuylle to replace Newhook on the 2nd line wing
Pebrix to replace Savard at RD
Matheson swapped for an RD (eg Andersson)

Other UFAs (namely Dvorak and Armia) to be replaced too.
