He’s not a big points producer but I have no problem with Anderson this year. He’s laying big hits, fighting, playing well on the PK. But yea, we agree playing physical tend to have a toll on players in theirs’ 30s.

At the end of the day, Bennett is a 50pts players and if he leave Fla, someone’s probably gonna give him a contract he doesnt deserve. Can see a 7x7-8mil.
Because he's not playing on the 2nd line. We are looking for a 2nd line center. One who can be that for around 3 years. If the guy age like Anderson it's not good cause we don't have that 2nd line center.

I would not offer 14M (I know, he won't accept less, etc) but I would still try to convince Marner joining. If it fails, fine, we wait next year for the likes of Kaprizov or Necas or Connor. I do not want to 'settle' for the like of Boeser or Ehlers. I want to commit to a star producer ideally that have 90 + pts upside.
Kaprizov isn't leaving MN. They have the richest owner in the world who's willing to commit 18 to 20 mil per year and they have his bff and another top Russian Superstar prospect coming. Connor isn't leaving the Jets.

Yeah I know in a vacuum he is not worth what the Habs would have to give to sign him but he would fill a lot of needs for us. He is a 2c, a solid goal scorer and brings a lot of needed grit in the playoffs.
The amount of years is a bigger concern than the aav. He'll probably sign for 6 years. The other options (Duchene, ...) are older and will probably sign for less years and be more manageable contracts.

I would have said the exact samething a year ago concerning Rantanen and Colorado

I would have absolutely no problem signing him 6 years. If you sign him as a 2C and consider Hage is eventual replacement, he can play 4 years as a 2C and finishes his contract as a 3C.

Even if he obviously becomes overpaid as a 3C, it's probably not a problem since Hage will have his ELC + bridge for the last 5 years of Bennett's contract.

That was different, Colorado wasn't willing to pay him. The thing with the wild and jets are they have owners who have money and are willing to spend. For example, Wild owner has already said they will outspend anyone in the NHL to keep kaprizov, especially with his injury history if the wild offer him 18 to 20 mil per year, he's resigning. even if it's like 15 or 16, he's resigning.

You know who to ufas goes…someone gonna give 5-6 years to Duchene, just watch.

The 2c capable UFA centers this season are 30+ (Duchene is 34, Tavares/Nelson are 33), none of them are long term just based on age. Bennett and Suter are the only under 30 (at 28), I would see in a 2c role and think to sign for 5 years...and both are probably re-signing with their team before July 1st.

I personally would go the trade route. Hopefully, NYI shows the door to Lou and make Horvat available. Otherwise, if the Wilds sign both Nelson and Boeser like some rumors are saying, that might make Ek available (still 3 years to his contract, 28). And then Lundell would be an amazing add, but doubful he is ever available, even if the Panthers keep Bennett. Seatler might make Stephenson available, if they want to promote Wright too.
What about Trocheck if the Rangers decide to retool?

Habs need the most smiles 2nd line center they can find. They don’t need a defensive, 40-50 point guy. They need someone who can play with Demigod and give Habs two 1st lines.

Craig Leopold is ultra rich? What?

An actual 2C would solidify the team so much and slot everybody in their right spot. I think it's even more of a priority then sorting out the defense.

How much would you guys offer McDavid if he actually hits FA in 2026? If we are patient this year that would be a wild scenario.

Slaf (7.6)- McDavid (16) - Demidov (10)
Dach (3.75)- Suzuki (7.875) - Caufield (7.8)
Heinemen (2.5) - Beck (2.5)- Newhook (3.75)
FloJack (1.1)- Evans (2.5)- Kapanen(1.1)
Tuch(1.1)

67.575 for forwards - doable.

The only correct answer is, however much he wants. It won’t be about money for him though as every team will offer him a boat load. It’d be everything around the team winning a Cup. He won’t cement his legacy without one or two of them.

If he is chasing a cup...and that is primary motive.....we would be competitive in that bidding.

The result is now confirmed: for helping the Flames by taking Monahan, Hughes will ultimately receive the 16th overall pick in the June draft in Los Angeles.
Not yet, they still have 1,1% chance to win lottery and move to 6th. In that case, we get Florida pick.

32 out of 32 teams should give him max time and cap.
