Obviously I want Crosby , but if we have to settle for Duchene assuming he wants t leave Dallas, I'm good with that. I also wantsone of Marner or Ehlers :)
I think we would move Laine if we were to get a 2c and a top 6 winger.

And I'm ok with that. I'm starting to firm my opinion like I'm firming my view of Mayheson - lots of talent, and I was hoping they could put it together and cut down on the bad plays and turnovers. But I'm pretty close to losing all hope. So if we can secure upgrades, I pull the trigger.

Laine may have trade value at 50% retained.

I'd just keep him and play in on the 2nd waive of the pp and the 3rd line. However, I wouldn't extend him

PL will be resigned in 2025 for half of what he makes for 3 years

If we packaged both 1sts how far could we move up

According to the same Sound of Hockey chart, packaging #16 (272) and #17 OA (260) would fetch #4 OA (530) in pure value.

In reality, I don’t think the picks would be enough to climb that high, but maybe Pittsburgh’ #8 OA could be in play? The Penguins’ next pick is a late second, so swapping quality for quantity might entice them to make such move.

What particularly stings is the fact that Chicago got Nazar with the pick sent by Kent Hughes in exchange for Kirby Dach .
While number 91 blossomed at 21 and impressed in his professional debut, Dach was still trying to find his place.
Yes, injuries have slowed him down, two serious knee injuries in two seasons is no small feat.
But even when he was healthy, his performances did not live up to expectations.
With 10 goals and 22 points in 57 games, and a differential of -29, it's hard to believe that Dach can truly establish himself as the coveted second center in Montreal.
Meanwhile, Nazar, three years younger, is already showing impressive maturity and efficiency.
No one questions Kent Hughes' flair in several cases, but this one could well be added to the regret column if Dach doesn't bounce back quickly.

HuGo stated that draft they didn’t want to draft another small F ..

Pens are so far behind in term of prospects pool that yeah they might be tempted. If Desnoyers is still there (he wont) i'd even include a 2nd to the package.

I think comes draft day, priority for HuGo will be to move up big in the draft by trading 2 X 1sts and maybe a 2nd to get a center like Desnoyers, Frondell or O'Brien. But we all know this almost never happens, so he will rapidly shift on trading picks for an actual 2C. This also almost never happens so he will pick but maybe try to trade some for 2026 picks.

I listened to Dreger this morning...

I don't think they are targeting a move up for a center in the draft unless it's Frondell/Desnoyers who could reasonably arrive soon. Which would be a near impossible task to move into range to get.

More likely they use one of those firsts and some prospect capital to get a ready made center for now. Demidov needs someone to center him tomorrow.

I think the worst thing about the Flames being so close to making the playoffs is that they won't want to trade guys like Kadri and Weegar who would be perfect fits for us.

An actual 2C would solidify the team so much and slot everybody in their right spot. I think it's even more of a priority then sorting out the defense.

KH may be targeting a 2C with his picks at the draft in trading the picks

Hey if they can actually get a center from UFA, without trading away their picks this year like everyone is assuming, then drafting BPA at 13 and 17 or whatever should really show up the farm.

Habs had the best second line centerman in their line up two seasons ago: Sean Monahan. Of course they got picks for him, but picks is not everything. Now, the same Monahan could lead Columbus to the Playoffs.
