HF Habs: Trade Proposal Thread 92 Waiting on the DRAFT Edition

if we can't land an established RD top 4 upgrade, I do like the idea of targeting a player like Kaedan Korczak from Vegas. While ELC contracts like his are valuable to a team like that, they have a bit of a logjam on D and very little draft capital next two seasons, so maybe a pick or two gets it done (2nd & 5th?)
I’ve mentioned Korczak a few times. He’s a very solid young player that’s simply behind a wall of contracts. He would be a very good addition to this team, and as I’ve mentioned before with Vegas having very few picks and Montreal having a plethora, it’s a deal that seems to make a ton of sense for either side.

Its 1 year of 2 for him. Im not sure why we should consider him a potential target. He looks like exactly what a team with heavy contracts needs to make it.

Laff is a winger. No. Especially the 1st , as Laine is also a winger.

Common, every fantaisy pooler tooks Laf for at least 65 pts this year and we would offer Laine + a 1st pick in the middle of the 1st rd? Damm I would run with this deal.

Great young player...

Unrealistic target (zero reason for Seattle to trade him and the cost would be massive)

Not sure that Beniers still unmovable. They have Stephenson signed for career and realy good, then Wright on a good to reach his potentiel. McCann is another with an historic on center even if he isnt considered as one anymore. Then, they are in draft spot where they will got one of Desnoyers, Frondell or Eklund. So I dont tell that dont need a center as Beniers but he could be an element to shake things for them and fix other weakness.

They operate very much like Carolina because their GM / president use to be president there. They aren't moving Beiners. No team moves a C because maybe they have too much. They will move McCann before they move Beiners who's a two-way stud and long-term cheap contract...

With their overtime loss, the Calgary Flames can't finish lower than 22nd overall this season; which means they won't finish in the top 10 [for the next draft].

Barring an unlikely lottery win, the Montreal Canadiens will retain Calgary's pick, which is projected to be the 16th overall pick in the 2025 draft." - Marco D'Amico

2C everyone. There shouldn't be a trade proposal or UFA suggestion on this thread that isn't focused on a 2C.

Retain Newhook and Dach next year. Hell......resign Dvorak as well. Make it a logjam of centres on this team. We currently can't afford losing Suzuki.

Slaf - Suzuki - Caufield
Laine - Duchene/Tavares - Demidov
Newhook - Evans - Dach
Anderson - Dvorak - Gally
Beck/Kapanen

I know he's not the sexiest name in the world, but if we can't trade for someone like Trochek or sign someone like Duchene I could see Namestnikov (UFA) being a short-term solution at 2C. Fellow Russian to play with Demidov and I could see him being a good fit with Laine as well. Some would say he's not a 2C but he's been top 6 in Winnipeg this year and they've done alright...

Caufield-Suzuki-Slafkovsky
Laine-Namestnikov-Demidov

Decent top 6 imho.

I won't try to put our bottom 6 together since it's very much unknown who comes back out of the Armia/Dvorak/Newhook/Dach types and who gets more consistent ice-time out of Heineman/Beck/Kapanen/Roy/Xhekaj.

Namestnikov resigned for 2 years back in February.

Would Pittsburgh's 2nd and Montreal's 1st get Habs a better 1st round pick.

Short answer, yes!

According to this chart, the Habs could climb from #16 OA to around #10-12 OA if they include #40 OA
