Matthew Beniers a good target?
They aren't trading him.Matthew Beniers a good target?
I get the sense Duchene likes it there but Dallas isn't rich with cap space. MTL has lots of it & that could entice him enough to sign0 reason why Duchene would leave Dallas.
Dallas are a good team , im sure hes willing to take less to stay there.
He's found his home. Not the face of a franchise will retire in a couple of years.
Anyways we need more than patching for 2 years. We need someone for 5+ years
Schneider maybe? If we try get something from the ruins of the Rangers, any trust that Trochek would bounce back if he could be available for a modest price?
I just think that there are far too many teams trying to find a 2C this summer that finding a stop gap and hoping for an eventual internal solution is the correct approach.
And at 5.6 Trocheck would not prevent Habs from pouncing into an oppotunity if a young potential center would suddenly become available during the season.
His buyout money is ending, he's been taking 3 mil from Dallas but getting 8 total. He's really trying to win a cup but he's not going to take the same discount three times in a row. He's had one of his most productive years this season and is turning 35, I doubt he gives up a 4 year deal that pays a lot to take one more discount year where he potentially puts up 40 points and then doesn't get offered anything substantial next summer in addition to not being desirable for contenders if he falls off.0 reason why Duchene would leave Dallas.

Montreal should be adding a long term centre because in two years Hage likely won't yet be a high-end NHL centre. Hage and a top-15 pick is worth a lot and not in terms of the usual quantity offers.
Lundell, if florida keeps Bennett?Great young player...
Unrealistic target (zero reason for Seattle to trade him and the cost would be massive)

Dylan Cozens would’ve been a great addition due to his size and handiness and position. He could’ve covered for Laine, he could’ve been paired with Slaf for a Géants line, he could’ve been used all throughout the top9.
Josh Norris is not a particularly valuable player and this whole thing about saying the Habs didn’t have the pieces to acquire Cozens is bogus.
Anyway it’s not a complaint as much as it is a question of finding another player who checks all the boxes.
I'm not sure if we could have. Apparently they wanted a top 6 forward back and from Montreal they were asking for either Slaf or Caufield. Obviously we weren't moving them and outside of our 1st line we don't have any true top 6 players we could've traded for Cozens.Yeah I wanted Hughes to trade for Cozens. He could have put a better offer on the table.
Caufield - Slaf is a ridiculous rumor. They both worth a lot more than Norris (who is always injured) . You convince buffalo to take Beck and you add draft pick to that.I'm not sure if we could have. I don’t believe this. Broken Josh Norris is nowhere close to Slaf or Caufield.I'm not sure if we could have. Who would you have offered for Cozens knowing they didn’t want prospects not in the NHL or picks?Dylan Cozens would’ve been a great addition due to his size and handiness and position. I’m not in the trade calls I don’t know what they wanted and why. I do know Josh Norris is not a particularly valuable player or trade asset. He’s damaged goods and has a big contract. Hughes could have beaten the trade if he wanted to — I’m not complaining as much as I’m wondering how we can pick up another player who checks the boxes like Cozens.Who would you have offered for Cozens knowing they didn’t want prospects not in the NHL or picks?
Don’t think Dach had any value in that type of trade

How? Who was the Habs Josh Norris?Yeah I wanted Hughes to trade for Cozens. He could have put a better offer on the table.
Buf made it clear they wanted young NHL experienced player of similar pedigreeCaufield - Slaf is a ridiculous rumor. They both worth a lot more than Norris (who is always injured) . You convince buffalo to take Beck and you add draft pick to that.
Beck , plus our two 1st round pick would have been a much better return for cozens compare to Norris and Bernard Docker. They could have flip the picks to get another center if thats what they wantedBuf made it clear they wanted young NHL experienced player of similar pedigree
