HF Habs: Trade Proposal Thread 92 Waiting on the DRAFT Edition

For Reinbacher he has potential and the Habs might draft a dman with that potential, but he currently isn't one in the NHL.

I should have said that. I'm not saying he's a crap prospect, or anything, just we're not sure what he will be in the NHL
I think he's going to be a really steady blueliner with some offensive ability. He won't be Hutson but will address what Hutson lacks. Those two should be perfect together.

Thats the dream.

When he's healthy I've really liked him in Laval and love the bit of snarl he brings

He's going to be really good.

I totally get why people wanted Mich (I wanted him myself) but I think it's all going to work out. Especially since we got Demidov in the following draft. RB/Hutson should be our first pairing for years to come.

Guhle's a guy who I think would normally have first pairing potential and we'll have him on the 2nd pair. We've got good depth on the left side and need to address the right. I'm excited man, we've got a really good club being put together.

What do you mean? Hed be our best player ? Too old.
He is 38? No? So, two years he will be 40. How many years do you think he will continue to play? Until he is 43? 45? 50?

It feels like people want to put all their chips in for a short window to try to win a cup, but then when Crosby retires or goes on LT disability, our cupboards will be dry and we sink back to a bubble team.

I’d keep our chips for someone who is likely to be a core player for 5+ years.

Hes Sidney Crosby.

I'll give a few examples off the top of my head.

They made a lucrative pitch for Brett Hull, but he went to Detroit instead (for much less money if i recall correctly). They made a big pitch for briere, but he went to philly. They made a big pitch for gomez, but he went to new york. All were marquee guys in their respective ufa classes.

Like, these were serious pitches with huge money. It wasn't enough to entice them. I'd have to think harder for other examples but these are ones I vividly remember.

Sundin would be another one now that I think of it
Tavares wouldn’t even talk to the Habs iirc. We’ve gone after many free agents who have just said no, or used for leverage. Lecavelier is another one.

It would cost more because Crosby is still pretty active, while both Gretzky and Bourque were washed ... Crosby would be one of Demidov or Reinbacher, 2x1st and a B prospect.
I'm pretty sure Crosby washes on a regular basis. Maybe he doesn't have someone washing him (as the highlighted text implies) but that means he knows how to do it by himself.

Let’s get Mario Lemieux then. He is the best C I’ve ever seen.
Yes, Mario was still a PPG player despite all his injuries at 40. Exactly. Crosby is having the 2nd best career longevity wise. Howe was effective until he was 46.

Youre expecting Crosby to be useless next year? Hage will come in soon, probably a seemless passing of the torch for the 2C spot.

How's Ovechkin doing at 40? Can he still score goals?

Right back at you. You say three firsts is ridiculous but don’t explain why. Tell us.

There’s no way on God’s green earth that Reinbacher would be an ask. Crosby has five years left. He’s not going to command that kind of premium. Not a chance. And Pittsburgh won’t demand it.

It may not be realistic but that’s not due to the offer. Three firsts and a Struble/Maillioix or Roy is more than fair.

The reality is that Crosby may not be willing to move at all. None of us can know this. So it’s pointless to speculate on that front.

What we’re doing here is assessing the value it would take to get him. Three firsts and a second tier prospect that I’ve listed should be more than enough. It kick starts Pittsburgh’s badly needed rebuild and allows them to tank for Mackenna next year.

Again, Crosby isn’t going to go to Pittsburgh to ask for a trade. The only way this is remotely possible is if we approach them with a killer trade and ask for permission to speak with him. Three firsts ought to accomplish that.
A killer trade would be quality over quantity for Sidney freaking Crosby. Only scenario where we can get Crosby for medium assets is if he go to Pitts and says deal me and only to Mtl. But, it’s not going to happen. He’s the ultimate pro and he’s gonna get Pittsburgh the chance to bank on the return. They can always tank with guys like Reinbacher and Hage, I dont really understand that part of your equation. Anyway it’s always the same in this forum, trying to give little and get the max (Halak+Ryder+2nd), but it’s not how it goes in real life. Love ur optimist though ;)

Hey Ryder, Halak and a 2nd was a killer offer, compared to what some are dishing out right now. At least they were 2 roster players ah.

Three firsts is a ton.

You aren’t getting a 20 year old Reinbacher for a 37 year old Crosby man. I don’t care if it’s Gretzky or Lemieux it’s not happening and they wouldn’t ask.

You’re right, that’s not going to happen. Nobody would expect it to. And that’s not how this would play out.

The way this plays out is with an aggressive offer and an ask to speak to the player. If it’s aggressive enough the team goes to Crosby and lets him know.

Nobody is saying that this WILL happen. Only that it should be attempted.

Forget about Hage and Reinbacher. Pittsburgh wouldn’t demand those kinds of assets.

Three first rounders for a 37 year old is not a lowball offer. It’s an aggressive offer aimed at kicking off a rebuild for a team that badly needs one. Your value system is out of whack if you think this is a nothing offer man.

Haha that’s true. My point is that people always offer spare plug for top players on this forum. I saw our two first rounders and Mailloux for Robert Thomas not too long ago.

Anyway, like I said, it’s ok, the forum is made for that type of conversation. Just found weird seeing an admin calling others offer ridiculous when he’s making himself some.

I’ll forget about Reinbacher and Hage, if you forget about those picks for Sid, deal? :D

No sorry.

Three picks is a fair offer. Reinbacher is not.

We could always add in a Struble/Roy/Mailloux to sweeten. That's more than reasonable.
