I know we might have Dvorak fatigue but I think Hayton could be a great option. He's got great underlying numbers on Utah but bad shooting luck. Get him some shooting practice and play him with Demidov, he can be the two-way LHC we need for him.

Answer the question :)

Two unprotected first round picks + Mesar or something?

How about: Slafkovsky for Crosby? Is that an overpay or bound to blow in our face? I’m just thinking in terms of what is the most painful trade I’m willing to swallow to acquire Crosby. I wouldn’t want to sell Slaf any time soon otherwise because his upside is undeniable (even though I feel he’s a Zubrus-like oaf who is unlikely to hit it, I wouldn’t risk it).
When it comes to trading for Crosby it's not a question of trade value in isolation, it's a question of value added. The idea of getting Crosbsy only really makes sense when he's a pure addition on top of what we have. If you are subtracting from the team to add Crosby it just doesn't make sense even if trade value wise it's net positive.

There is a point where a subtraction of an NHLer is both necessary (for the trade) and tolerable (for the team acquiring him).

What is your BEST offer?

Montreal’s saving grace with Crosby is his NTC, so he could easily give us all the leverage.

Looking like the panthers are running out of gas and might fall short of expectations in the playoffs.

Might be one of those teams that do some re-shuffling this summer.
Well, they are missing Ekblad and Tkachuk, so of course they are going to be a bit wonky. I think they are both expected back for the playoffs, if someone can confirm.

Sure but creating a hole to fill another just isn't the type of thing we should be looking for. My offer for Crosby would be picks/prospects

If the second line next year is Laine-Crosby-Demidov, what do the 3rd and 4th lines look like?

What about Hendrix Lapierre ? PPG in the AHL and may not have his chance behind Dubois McMichael and Strome.

Mailloux for Lapierre?

Mailloux for Lapierre?

I would be down for that.

But then again I have soured on Mailloux a lot this last season so maybe it's the discontent at Mailloux's lack of progression speaking.

If we look only at potential upside, then Mailloux is by far the more valuable piece between him and Lapierre. But we already have offense-first defensemen and need more two-way guys, which I don't think Mailloux will ever be so maybe we still pull the trigger despite Mailloux's ceiling being quite high.

It'd be hilarious if Ottawa overtakes them and then the Leafs get the Panthers in round 1 with a rested Tkachuk and Ekblad.
I want sens to play the leafs and beat them. Would be nice addition to add to the collection of leafs failures, along with yet another 1st round exit
