Why in gods name would dallas do that,

Trying to find a good fit at center is tricky, I don't think you'll get a young one, but someone I've always wondered about Eklund out in SJ?

I think the reality is we would need to give up someone valuable to get a Strong 2c and most teams are looking for one, so either we get a vet ala duchene or your saying goodbye to a top prospect ala fowler/reinbacher

You're not totally wrong that going back to last year, his most common linemate has been Savard by a large amount and Harris/Kovacevic. The problem appears that we lack RH D.

Struble/Engström - Carrier/Mailloux/Engström

Xhekaj could be there to help protect Hutson against cheap shots against Hutson and, as a D, Xhekaj is as good as Struble; mobile (for such a big player), heavy shot and ability to find shooting lanes, physical play (outside of fighting) as well.

For a while, observers had talked about A. Xhekaj developing into a top-4 D and now, stupidly, we are talking about him not being good enough to be a 6th D and needing to become a 4th line forward so he can fight more without hurting the lineup as a D.

If A.Xhekaj is to be reduced to being an enforcer, please, by all means, trade him in a package for a 2C.

People tend to not look that great playing with Matheson as well, especially when he wants to be the main character.

What would guys think about OS to Cuylle or Ryan McLeod this summer??

No to any offer sheet, much less to Cullye , or McLeod that would need to be OSed to a salary they are not remotely worth.

OSing is the perfect way to lose control of the Cap structure you have implemented and are trying to defend with players you will be extending.

Historically, OSing hasn't reaped great returns, even if successful.

I am starting to think the play should be Beniers for our 2C solution. Young, signed long term but doesn’t come without risk (has underperformed). Considering the C depth in Seattle’s organization I think they might be open to trading him if it solves some of their D depth issues.

With Lane and Carrier our defense is small enough, don't want Struble there too. Ideally you want somebody like Xhekaj there that's why I would keep him and work with him. I prefer my defense to be big and heavy so they can lean on opposing forwards, like we see successful teams do in playoffs hockey. Struble is a dime a dozen.
