Hayton is not a 2c and not worth acquiring. He is not ant better than Kapanen and Beck. He is a 3c.
And fair valueLet’s send them Gallagher + Mesar
Irresistible deal
He will lilkely go back to being nothing after this fluke season.Morgan Geekie should have been our target when Seattle didn’t qualify him.
Respectfully you have like the worst track record when it comes to speaking in absolutes about other teams playersHayton is not a 2c and not worth acquiring. He is not ant better than Kapanen and Beck. He is a 3c.

What’s your eval on Hayton? I haven’t seen him play in years.Respectfully you have like the worst track record when it comes to speaking in absolutes about other teams players
IIRC you still think the Protas brothers are both no talent hacks
That's easily the worst first line in the entire NHL right there.Barrett Hayton and Mason McTavish are my 2 guys.
I would trade Caufield to Anaheim for McTavish. I wonder how a guy like free agent Ryan Donato, first in point and goals while being 5th in ice time for forwards on Chicago, would do on the wing with McTavish and Demidov.

Kapanen/Roy
You can improve your defensive core by trading Matheson, Beck, Mesar, Engstrom, Mailloux, Reinbacher.
They are if they weren't on PEDS. They were nothing until this season. Now I have been in a points only keeper league for 40 years so I usually concentrate on potential point production. The WJC Dach got hurt i had Newhook, McMichael, Zary, Mercer, Tomasino, Zegras, Caufield and Boldy. All good players.Respectfully you have like the worst track record when it comes to speaking in absolutes about other teams players

Ignoring the PEDs accusation (which hey maybe you’re right I haven’t heard anything) that is a good list of players. They are if they weren't on PEDS. They were nothing until this season. He’s improved every year stats wise. Looks like he got caught in the numbers game in Carolina, got picked up by Seattle and they had Gourde, Beniers and Donato for their scoring lines and he got what was left… which wasn’t much. Signs with Boston, plays his way to the top line and starts burying pucks. He put up solid numbers last year too, so I don’t think this is a “fluke” per se, but he does have a lot of chemistry with Pasternak. He will lilkely go back to being nothing after this fluke season.
Just one game, but Lundell certainly didn't look like the 2C solution some want to pay a small ransom for... Good player but very vanilla. He'd get eaten alive on here if we gave up major assets to watch him be less impactful than Newhook.
34 in 55 last year.Lundell scored 40 points twice in 4 years. Newhook is at 0 in 4.
People may be offering overpayments, but he would be better than Newhook.
I'd say yes to that if Lundell wasn't a good defensive C, something Newhook isn't.34 in 55 last year.
Lundell plays on the defending cup champs (& back to back finalists). Quality of roster affects scoring.
yes, Lundell is the better player (or more productive... .53ppg vs .43ppg) But unless he had a major breakthrough, the same people pissed about Newhook would be sharpening their pitchforks in no time.
I think you misunderstood my comment.I'd say yes to that if Lundell wasn't a good defensive C, something Newhook isn't.
Lundell will earn his TOI on a second line because of his defensive play and the ability have the coaching staff trust him with that TOI.
Beyond that, his playmaking ability will go well with Demidov and Laine, which could potentially lead to a major breakthrough.

Not really.. Lundell has had more ice time and PP time annually. One season Newhook had 16+ min of ice time, he pretty much matched Lundell's production.Possibly, but you can also argue than Lundell is being buried in Florida while Newhook pretty much had the field open for both wings and C in the top6 and failed to take it.
I don't think it's likely either, but I could see it happening if they extend Bennett simply because other teams might value him more than the Panthers.Anton Lundell is 6'1 and 23 years old, has a 5x5 contract starting next season, mostly plays with 3rd liners, gets zero PP time but still averages 40-50 points a season, and plays the top PK unit for the reigning cup champs. Why the f*** would Florida even entertain trading him?
Other than being injured all the time id consider signing Ekblad.
I think hed be a very good veteran presence on the back end. Trade Matheson.
Hutson - Ekblad
Guhle - Reinbacher
Xhekaj - Carrier
Struble
Great analysis.Florida hasn't been all that good without him. They're 4-5-0 since he stopped playing. Prior to that they were on a 6 game winning streak.
Jones is proving he isn't a #1 D, and $7m is about right for him. Ekblad is likely to get at least $9m.
Currently they have $19m in cap space for next year, and need to sign 2 forwards, 1D & a backup goalie. The backup goalie usually gets $1m, so that's $18m in cap space.
Mackie Samsokevich has had a really good year and is RFA. Imo, he's an offer sheet candidate so Florida can't lowball him like Edmonton did to Holloway and Broberg. With his year, he's getting at least $1.75m on a one year deal & $2.75m on a 2-3 year deal. We'll saw it off & say he signs for $2.25m.
That leaves $15.75m. Ekblad takes $9m. That leaves only $6.75m for Bennett. If they want to keep him, they probably trade one of Rodrigues or Luostarinen, or both. They both make $3m
But, if they decide to let one of Ekblad or Bennett go, I would try & sign whoever they don't keep.
Guhle - Ekblad would be an excellent shut down pairing.
