HF Habs: Trade Proposal Thread 92 Waiting on the DRAFT Edition

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.
    • Our 2025 light and dark themes were lost, so we are rebuilding them. Light theme is currently available, but work in progress

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

In the meantime, feel free to join our Discord Server
Has RNH been on the Oilers 3rd line most of this season?

If so I wonder if he'd be potentially available as a trade target. I could see them being very interested in Fowler for obvious reasons. I'd entertain something around Fowler+ for RNH. I know most fans would blow a gasket over that proposal, but goalies are a crap shoot, even prospects that look as promising as Fowler. It wasn't long ago that Primeau was coming off a similarly impressive College run and getting praised as the future in net.
We also have Yevgeni Volokhin in the KHL. Despite being on a bad team, he’s looking good against pros. So I’m not totally opposed to giving up Fowler for RNH.

Pajama Boy will want to stay in Toronto, but they may be forced to not sign him. His wife is a pediatric Dr in Toronto, so if he leaves Toronto, he will want to be close.

Tavares is still good.

Slaf - Suzuki - Caufield
Laine - Tavares - Demidov
Heinemen - Dach - Newhook
Anderson - Evans - Gally

I don’t want to take a chance on Zegras to be honest. Would rather they trade for an established center like Zacha or ROR, and draft a young one in the draft this year. Seems like there are lot of C prospects in this years draft class.

Slafkovsky - Suzuki - Caufield
Laine - Crosby - Demidov
Heineman - Evans - Anderson
Newhook - Dach - Gallagher

Hutson - Matheson
Ghule - Carrier
Xhekaj - Reinbacher

These mid-thirties players - good fit to bridge the gap - but have played themselves into a position where they don’t have to move if they don’t want to.

ROR, Tavares, Duchene. I don’t see any going to Montreal.

Schenn? Maybe.

With more term …
Trocheck, Barzal - righties with M-NTC’s.

Man you seriously put Primeau and Fowler in the same sentence ? Even as college players ??
One was a 7th round pick who overcomes one is a potential dominant starter for decades to come …. And that based on scouting their college career .

Crosby wouldnt cost a whole lot because he will decide if and where he is traded. If he tells he want to be trade to montreal they will accommodate him. And they will have to accept whatever montreal want to give
It wouldn't exactly work like that, but, no, Montréal wouldn't have to gut their team or their futures to get Crosby under those conditions.

Still don't think that Crosby is coming to Montreal.

He did grow up as a habs fan. And the players around the league can see Montreal is an up and coming team. So there is a possibility. If he chose Montreal , the price to acquire him wouldnt be more than a late first round pick and a b prospect IMO

Ironically , he would be the best stop gap center for us and the cheapest to acquire too

Draft position has nothing to do with it. Both guys had excellent D+1 and D+2 seasons and ranked among the top goalie prospects in the world after their D+2 seasons.

Going into the 2019-2020 season, Pronman had Primeau ranked 4th among goalie prospects ahead of guys like Oettinger, Wolf, Dostal, etc... It just goes to show how difficult goalies are to project.

Zacha a bit slow?
Caufield , Slaf, Laine and zacha all under 50th percentile for speed (edge data).

can’t have just suzuki (+ Demidov, hopefully) > 50th in the top 6. That’d be a bit slow.
