HF Habs: Trade Proposal Thread 92 Waiting on the DRAFT Edition

“We’re not going to go into free agency like a bunch of drunken sailors and get stuck with eight-year deals that we wish we could get out of the minute we get into them,” Hughes said, “but I think we’re probably closer to overpaying in terms of what we give up in assets to acquire a player.”

Didn't seem to work... We'll see at the draft what's his definition of overpay.

Yeah that makes a lot of sense. But that probably means he isn't against signing someone on shorter term deals like 2-3-4 years.

Prettu curious to what he has in plan this summer. He needs to have a very good summer. No more Dach/Newhook.

Another Hughes quotes

“We’d be remiss if we missed the window while we have an elite two-way centreman like Nick Suzuki driving our team,” said Hughes"

We are going into win now mode next year. Especially with the entire first line on team friendly deals, Demidov and Hutson still on ELC's. Summer is going to be fireworks.

Can't wait for the next Dach/Newhook!

UFA is a suckers game. The majority of top UFA’s are guys looking for a retirement contract that will age poorly. I’m fine with Hughes filling the roster out with some smaller names threw FA if they’re available, but I wouldn’t do what teams like Detroit and Nashville attempted.

I don't think it would cost that much.

Losing Crosby would clear the Pens payroll and help them draft higher.

I'd offer a 2025 1st, a 2026 2nd round pick, Dach or Newhook, and a B-prospect like Mesar or Rohrer.

If they retain, they can get more.
I think at the end cost will be fine , it is just a matter of him wanting to be a hab.
Seeing Crosby , I am sure he wants another cup , and while he could go to a coloarado or Dallas , a cup run with the Habs carry a lot more reward then with those teams.
And it is not as if he not won any before .
If you want to hit a home run , let it be a grand slam hahaha

I would be ok with a 2-3 years contract for Duchene or Granlund if there are no other options through trades.

I think yeah the most likely thing is he finishes his career in Pittsburgh but I think the chances he leaves are greater than people think. Based on the fact the long term success of the organization is way better if he leaves this summer instead of finishing his career there in 2-3 years.

Without Crosby, they are prime candidate to land McKenna and Dupont. Organization knows it, Crosby knows it. Everybody know it. It makes too much sense.
After that 4 nations run and rush, I can’t see a worldly competitive talent like him fading with the pens.
He will want the rush and run. Be it this off season or next deadline

Great to ear that HuGo realize this team needs to win while Suzuki is in his prime. Suzuki, Hutson and Demidov will be the 3 big pieces to build a Stanley cup winning team. Hoping Fowler becomes an above-average no.1 goalie and Reinbacher a top pair RHD.

Will have a great supporting cast with Slaf, Caufield, Guhle and I hope Hage.

And he knows accepting a trade is what's the best for the organization long-term success.

I like Barzal but he doesn't play center.

I'm a Dobson fan but he'll probably ask for the same contract as Charlie McAvoy (8 years/76 millions). Which will make Hutson ask for the same contract. Plus the Islanders (at least their fans) seem delusional regarding his value. Would give Matheson + MTL 1st + PIT 2nd, not more.

I don't know if you saw Islanders prospects pool? You have Eiserman and maybe Isaiah George. That's it. They also already have Pulock, Mayfield and DeAngelo on the right but only Romanov and Pelech on the left. But they want a forward for Dobson. I don't get it, I'd ask for a D and picks, then I would try to go on the UFA market for a forward. This way 1) you don't weaken your defence in the foreseeable future 2) you can add 2 good prospects (3 with their pick) this year and that's your priority 3) you still have money for the UFA markets.

Stupid organisation I wouldn't do business with them.
