Agreed. Zegras is soft, engimatic and would drive our coaching staff nuts and this board even nuttier than it already is. I'd rather stick with Newhook at center than Zegras. Hell, I'd rather give Dach another chance.I'd give Brock Nelson a 14 million dollar contract before I'd trade for Zegras.
Granlund is my choice for 3 years. You bring Hage with the team in two years to play center on the 3rd line than replace Granlund on the 2nd line in his 2nd year.If they sign Marner, they can broaden their search for a 2C. Marner is a big talent upgrade in the top 6 which will trickle down to the 2nd line. Same if they get Ehlers.
They need a productive 2nd line. Maybe a winger is a key piece here. They’d still need a center, but could expand the search if the 2nd line had 2 good wingers - and not just Demidov / Laine. (A rookie and a questionable 5v5 player)
Dvorak needs a new contract too - anyone over zegras lolI'd give Brock Nelson a 14 million dollar contract before I'd trade for Zegras.

Hughes scares me tho there were rumors a few weeks back that we almost got him at the draft . They clearly like him

Absof***inglutelyThe more I think about it , the more Crosby makes the most sense . Insane to say that but he is exactly what the team needs for 2 years .
I think us making the playing and showing flashes might even motivate him to end his career with a his childhood team . Especially a team that has a chance to win with him surrounded by young elite talent.
Now what it would take … first his willingness to, then a deal around beck , a first and a d prospect not named reinbacher
Absof***inglutely
2 years on the 2nd line being a ppg player and a 3rd year grooming Hage.
I would give Habs 2026 1st, Mailloux, Beck and one of Dach/Newhook.
I think this is the question of this summer which might trigger some trade tango. Who will be actively tanking for McKenna/Dupont year later. For PIT, rebuild is the only right answer, I guess.Losing Crosby would clear the Pens payroll and help them draft higher.
I think they will ask for a quality prospect as a base for the trade. Mailloux is good option in that optic.I don't think it would cost that much.

I'd offer a 2025 1st, a 2026 2nd round pick, Dach or Newhook, and a B-prospect like Mesar or Rohrer.
If they retain, they can get more.
If I was the Pens, I'd take Ryder, Halak and a 2nd before that offer.Absof***inglutely

I find it funny people keep adding Newhook and Dach into trades when they are worth nothing. You have to remember that if Sidney Crosby is being traded other teams would out bid us with these crappy offers.
What I find funny is you think Crosby will accept a trade to every team in the league. He will lift his NMC for 1 or 2 teams, maybe 3 max.I find it funny people keep adding Newhook and Dach into trades when they are worth nothing. Cant see Crosby leaving Pitt.
why would he?
I agree with #1He won't leave.. he wants to do the Lemieux thing.
If he did leave, there's only two destinations:
1. Colorado to play with Nate.
2. Montreal as his hometown team that drafted his dad.
I agree with #1
but the dad thing I get it, but don't see it
I think yeah the most likely thing is he finishes his career in Pittsburgh but I think the chances he leaves are greater than people think. Based on the fact the long term success of the organization is way better if he leaves this summer instead of finishing his career there in 2-3 years. It was his team growing up, too.. but let me be clear, that's a distant as #2 and the most likely thing is him finishing his entire career in Pittsburgh.
Plays centre, shoots left, 6’ tall, 23 years old.I know he's unpopular around here, but I'd consider it. I think the current lockerroom, coaching and development staff could really help his game grow.
