No chance he'd accept that. Probably needs to be like 8x4.If UFA like Duchene is available we should try same tactics as Tampa with Guentzel. Trade 3rd for his rights, so we can talk to him exclusively before July 1st. Give him 6M for 2 years that would compensate the tax gap.
I don’t think so. He’s done. He’s so slow and ineffective except at having the puck hit him. Kids aren’t so kid anymore. Bring in another vet who can play a shut down roll and move on.Savard will also be resigned as 7th D and help mentor Redenbacher IMO
Bro doesn't have 4 years left in his career. He's also not the guy to pay to be "the guy". Every time he's "the guy" he falters. Every time he's secondary scoring he overachieves. We've got a decade + of proof that shows he doesn't face adversity well.No chance he'd accept that. Probably needs to be like 8x4.
Who said anything about him being the guy? He's not going to dethrone Suzuki or Caufield (and arguably Slaf and Demidov) offensively. He's playing the best hockey of his career right now, he's not going to accept a 1 year 4 million deal or whatever.Bro doesn't have 4 years left in his career. He's playing the best because he's playing with some of the best players in the league, which the Habs have none of currently. He's the type of guy who's numbers have cratered traditionally in Montreal. And his mental fortitude is 1/10. I don't think he'd take a one year deal either but he's going to be going to a very shit team if he wants 4 years on his next deal.Who said anything about him being the guy? Granlund/Seguin/Marchment are not the "some of the best players in the league". If his mental fortitude is 1/10, Dach/Newhook are in the negatives. He'll be fine next to Demidov and definitely won't be "the guy" like how you said. He'd be in a secondary role like how he is in Dallas. Our drop off after the top line is arguably the worst in the league. He's playing the best because he's playing with some of the best players in the league, which the Habs have none of currently. I personally wouldn't bet on a skills guy with a poor playoff resume and knock locker room and culture issues turning 35 but that's me. I'm sure our options will be limited.Granlund/Seguin/Marchment are not the "some of the best players in the league". If his mental fortitude is 1/10, Dach/Newhook are in the negatives. He signed 1x3M deal with Dallas last summer. He is 34, I would even give him 3x6M to basically bridge Demidov ELC and give us time to develop Hage/Beck/Kapanen. 2C options will be very limited. No chance he'd accept that. Probably needs to be like 8x4.
