HF Habs: Trade Proposal Thread #91: 2025 Trade Deadline edition

Would you sign Armia 2x2?

There isn't much room in the bottom six for next year.

With Demidov coming next year, we'll have Evans, Beck, Heineman, Newhook, Anderson and Gallagher to play in our bottom six, plus Dach might end up in our bottom six as well if we get a legit #2 C. Also young guys like Kapanen, Davidson and Roy could be pushing for a spot.

Savard---- MTL only have 6 D healthy right now so unless it's a solid offer, David should stay.

Dvorak--- Not much value, why would you trade him for a 4th round pick?

Armia--- Should have good value, a 2nd pick? Go ahead and trade him.

Now i think we will trade for a cheap Trevor Zegras. He is best friend of Caufield and he knows Martin St-Louis. And if it doenst work out, it wont cost a lot. And next year Zegras/Dach will battle it out for 2c, if we cant get a good one on the Open Market.

Caufield - Suzuki - Slafkovsky
Newhook - Zegras - Laine
Heineman - Evans - Armia
Gallagher - Beck - Andersson

Not the best line up, but he is in our age range and mostly, wont cost us, something good.

Sick value deal, GG Hughes.

Faque...

I'd guess not a single player will be dealt, and there is a decent chance they swing for the fence with a young C with terms. Very unlikely, but I'm sure this is something they try real hard.

What are you giving up for Zegras and why others team can’t be that offer? It’s Mtl and only Mtl for Zegras? Doubt it.

What do you expect him to say? "I hope they trade Dvorak, that guy f***ing sucks..." then he has to go play with him!? Come on. You NEVER get the truth in the media anymore. There's too much control on what players say now.
Suzuki is echoing the same thing. Management talked about playing meaningful games in March. That doesn’t happen if you sell off Evans and company and don’t replace them.

It reads almost exactly like Evans saw that there was 0 chance that he would stay on the team post-trade deadline if he didn't sign a deal so he compromised and signed a team-friendly deal in order to stay on the Habs. What Truman said (Evans likely going, he's distraught about it) can still be true. He might've just decided that he'd rather stay on the team than make an extra 4-5~ million with any UFA contract he was signing this summer.

IMO it would cost Mailloux….and I’d still make the deal

Savard and Dvorak probably don't return a 2nd, so I don't think they will trade them.

But Armia should return a 2nd, so will be interesting to see what they do

Habs still have a retention slot for either Armia, Dvorak or Savard.

Armia @ 50% retention: $1.7M
Dvorak @ 50% retention: $2.225M
Savard @ 50% retention: $1,75M

That is a good question to ask. Is Hughes looking to address the 2C spot by Friday or will he wait until after the season?

I had that thought rolling around my head all week.

I couldn't see them selling with the team this close to the playoffs and I was wondering if we could see a "draft style" trade by Hughes at this deadline to get a 2C.

With the Evans extension it does seem more likely since it seems like they're open to making a run at the playoffs this year. The options seem incredibly slim though. I think Cozens and Zegras are both very attainable guys if that's who Hughes is after. I see McTavish is currently listed on the Ducks 3rd line, if by some chance he's not completely untouchable then I'd be all over trying to get him.
