If NJ doesn't replace Hughes, they are not guaranteed to make the playoffs. Big decision ahead for their management team.
Ya that too...Wouldn't you rather our "A" team instead?
Pending how serious the injury is, it will be close. 6 points up on Detroit/2nd wildcard spot with 20 games left.....tightIf NJ doesn't replace Hughes, they are not guaranteed to make the playoffs. Big decision ahead for their management team.
For sure.....you might get both, ya never knowYa that too...
But a guy can dream of a 2nd centre

He's a playoff beast and the type of player who can help wear down a Dcorps in a 7 game series.Love the player but I really doubt Vegas would let him go, he’s having a solid season and is on a 60 point pace
Such a tightrope to walk.. Evans/Armia are on expiring deals so those are 'buyer' players for sure, but buyers aren't going to likely want to give up any sort of player that is going to help them now.32 thoughts went through all 32 teams and said very little.
Frederic is likely gone and while no one cares but me, Brazeau is likely to be dealt.
Said Montreal is likely to look for a hockey trade.
I like the idea.. Both Dvorak and Evans have similar numbers and age, do well in PK and are generally players with a good attitude.Nope, the sample size is pretty decent now. The overall feeling about him reminds me Eller back then. People bashed him non stop, no matter what incredible underlying numbers he has. One of the best in the league to take a face off in his own zone, get the puck out and end his shift the other side. Dvorak is not that good now, but he's getting closer, with an insanely good faceoff %.
Dvorak is playing very very well for several weeks now. Healthy for the first time in a while, still young, and most likely a way cheaper option than Evans. It's some of common for journalists and fans to spit on him, but it changes nothing he's a very solid bottom 6 C.
I summarize :
- Excellent in PK
- Excellent FO
- Positive expected goals in a non playoff team.
Cheap, young, liked by other players.
MTL may do nothing till draft32 thoughts went through all 32 teams and said very little.

You're ignoring the main reason why they aren't just selling to the highest bidder... That's why it makes no sense to you.I'm suggesting that you either think Armia, Evans and Dvorak ARE key players in your reconstruction and you sign them. I wouldn't agree with Dvorak at all but at least it shows me it's part of a plan. Or I'm suggesting that you trade them for the best you can get so you get assets in return. How just riding them till the end of the year 'cause you wanted a 1st and got a 2nd instead and for that you are not going to move them makes no sense.
They are negotiating a contract with Evans presumably because they want to bring him back if they can reach to terms both sides agree to. What's confusing about thatUnless...the PLAN for THIS YEAR was really to make the playoffs. It's year 1 of showing the kids what playoffs look like and you want to ride with what you have. If so....no idea why there are discussions of Evans contract right now.
Ok, sure. I don't agree with you, and apparently neither do they.so again, to me, it's all in or sell. Those are the 2 acceptable plans. Staying put 'cause you are dissapointed in the return for you not to make the playoffs and seeing those guys sign elsewhere...we've played that game before with Bergevin.
If Hughes is injured, NJ isn’t a buyer…Hughes injured in NJ.
Gonna need an extra C soon
(Evans, the 4th Hughes bro)
For 4 years, myself and many on this board have been begging for Dvo to be off the team because he basically does nothing well, except faceoffs. He doesn't hit, doesn't score, doesn't forecheck well, nothing....except faceoffs. The only way I would bring him back is on a 1 year deal and even the thought of that gives me the chills.I like the idea.. Both Dvorak and Evans have similar numbers and age, do well in PK and are generally players with a good attitude.
The problem with Dvorak was the expectations and his salary. He was there to replace KK on the 2nd line, but ended up being a stretch on the 3rd line at $4.45M.
If he is willing to accept $2.5M per for 3 years to play on the 4th line, I'd say go for it and let Evans walk.
8.5 M for a 60 pt player until he is 36 yo is very risky.bo horvat should be prime target. experienced, not too old, signed long term, lefthanded, solid two way player with excellent fo%.
If it's the price to pay to finally have a stable mid to long term 2C vet solution , I'm more than willing to pay it. That would be a big stumbling block taken off.8.5 M for a 60 pt player until he is 36 yo is very risky.
I hate the idea too but....For 4 years, myself and many on this board have been begging for Dvo to be off the team because he basically does nothing well, except faceoffs. I'm feeling nauseous lol. If we do bring him back....I'm thinking our bottom 6 looks like this, for now.I hate the idea too but....
With Dach hurt and looking more and more every hour to not be either a centre or part of the team's future, we need C's. Evans looks to be gone, either before Friday or in the summer.
Beck looks decent and will probably be on the team next year but we need another option.
I'm thinking Dvo is like a last resort if he's still there mid-summer and no plausible trade option has shown itself. At least I hope he's not a priority.
I know, I know.... I've been a "Dvo, hell no" guy for a while now.I'm feeling nauseous lol
How was Cozens on Saturday night?
He’s nothing like Eller. Lars at least wasn’t afraid of contact. His wingers are doing the majority of the work, that’s why he looks passable.Nope, the sample size is pretty decent now. The overall feeling about him reminds me Eller back then. People bashed him non stop, no matter what incredible underlying numbers he has. No matter what you do, at one point, your star players will be signed to big money until they are 34-35-36yo. It's Inevitable for a competitive team. What will you do when Suzuki becomes UFA in 5 years?? He will be 30yo. If he is still producing like he does this year, do you resign him or let him go?? If you sign him, you will need to give him a contract that will last until his 36-37 yo. Risky yes. But inevitable if you are still in your window.8.5 M for a 60 pt player until he is 36 yo is very risky.
