What is the expected price for Savard?
Will Montreal take a contract back or retain? I kinda assume 2/3 rounder (or am I wrong)?

Our fanbase never shuts up about L. Schenn. I personally think Savard is the ideal target as our 5/6 Dman. I would pair him with Rielly.

I think a 3rd is realistic unless some team suffers a major injury in the next few days. I actually think Evans and Savard would be good pick ups for your team

Nick Suzuki is the only roster vet untouchable to me.

Minny are apparently in need of PK help. Wonder what's the best thing we could pry for Armia/Evans tandem. Jiricek+? Spacek+? Ohgren+? Yurov+? Obviously Buium is impossible.

Trade proposal.

To NJ : Evans and Armia

To Montreal : Arseni Gritsyuk

Facile de même.
Bump.

I'd guess it's not enough to get Gritsyuk, NHL ready Demidov teammate, a fast talented forward.

Let's try this instead :

Evans + B prospect + 2nd

Vs

Gritsyuk.

*After making sure Demidov and Bobrov's dad approved.

What is the expected price for Savard?

It’ll have to be a multi piece trade

First off you have to admit that Montreal is Canada’s team. Point blank

Secondly, you’ve gotta give us TSN back. It’s impossible to watch games with all the Toronto bias

Thirdly, you have to ancknowldge that Gilmours best years we’re as Hab. Wel do the same with Plekanec.

And lastly, a fourth round pick.

The question asked: Would you bite if the trade was Horvat for A. Xhekaj?

The real question should be Horvat for A.Xhekaj + Hage.

That would realistically be the asking price, not solely A. Xhekaj and, to help out immediately, the asking price might be A. Xhekaj, Newhook and Hage, or a. Xhekaj, Evans and Hage.

Would you do any of these scenarios?

I would do any three of these scenarios, although I would prefer trading Newhook than Evans in that package because I stil think we might be able to package Evans in a trade with Armia, perhaps (especially if we hold back half of Armia's contract), for a first round pick which might help to increase our odds of selecting our future 2C.

It leaves you at least four years to find a replacement C for 2C and, although it certainly wouldn't be Hage, anymore, there was never a certainty that Hage would've been more than a winger at the NHL level. Too far out to know this for sure.

I'd be pretty confident that we could select our future 2C at the 2025 draft.

I would love for Montreal to be able to select two C candidates with their 1st round picks; one safer pick in Desnoyers and a high risk, high potential pick like Ryabkin if he drops down at the draft.

Caufield - Suzuki - Laine
Slafkovsky - Horvat - Heineman
Anderson - Beck - Gallagher
Laval 4th line.

Next year:

Caufield - Suzuki - Laine
Slafkovsky - Horvat -Demidov
Heineman - Beck - Roy
Anderson - XXX (F. Xhekaj?) - Gallagher
I agree that there's no way the Habs get Horvat for Xhekaj alone, and I've dreamed of Bo in a Habs jersey ever since rumors surfaced at his draft that Montreal was trying to trade up for him (I watched Horvat quite a bit in the OHL). However, including Hage in a deal for him would be a no from me. Hage has too much potential, IMO.

I'd give this a "laugh" like but I can't so here you go :laugh::laugh::laugh:

He played a full 82 games last season. And his first 7 seasons he barely missed any games. He's defensively sound and PPG this season, but he did miss some games. Still a WAY BETTER gamble then Jake Evans. He was a game changer for us, he fit like a glove right from his 1st game. He's an elite 2C. We fumbled.
The trade was good. We had to re-sign him in free agency.

Savard is pretty slow.

3rd rounder would do it and I'd ask for a solid AHLer as a throw in, but obviously Marlies and Rocket are.competiting against each other, so a 3rd would suffice.

I think Hughes wants a 2nd otherwise he's not moving him and given that it's the trade deadline and people might overay, but he's not really worth it.

TLDR, we the fans are fine with a 3rd, Hughes probably wants a 2nd and i imagine he would be willing to send back a later round pick with him. So, leafs 2027 2nd for Savard and a 4th in 2025, or 2026

What would it cost to acquire Crosby? I wouldn't give my 1st pick this year for Crosby.

CAL 1st, other first acquired for Evans + Armia, Montreal 2nd round pick? Is that enough? Too much?

Having Crosby, even at his age, playing with Demidov and Slafkovsky, let's say, would be huge for the kids' development!

Caufield - Suzuki - Laine as the other top-6 line?

By the time Hage steps in, there are enough experienced, quality wingers to help bring him along. If it's not Hage, it will be someone else that we select with our 1st round pick in 2025 and, maybe, Hage becomes a winger to replace Laine.
It’s a ridiculous low ball

It’s a third to most teams.

If it’s Toronto it’s a second, just to pay the inter division hated rival tax.

He’d help your penalty kill immensely, and will throw himself in front of any shot he can reach. He’s not that fast, but he’s steady.

The added bonus would be seeing Max Domi’s head explode when the big guy showed up in the Leafs room for the first time.

My guess is 3rd at full price or 2nd at 50%. Habs could take back money back.

I know leafs want to dump Kampf but I'd honestly do 2nd + Kampf for Savard. We need a defensive Lefty bottom 6 C.

2nd this year
Jarnkrok also on the books next year @ 2.1

For

Savard (50%)

Ish?
Is he done for his career just collecting paycheques?

While he's not a lot, Habs will likely still have Price to put on LTIR, which would put their ability to spend to the cap hindered by almost 13 million when they want to start turning it the other way.

The Price contract is something I have been pondering lately. Next year is the contract's final season, and Price has a bonus due on July 1st, I believe. So after that bonus payout (plus whatever insurance may be covering), he should be owed very little actual money. With the salary cap going up, that means the cap floor is also going up. Are there any teams out there that may have difficultly reaching the new floor? If so, sending them Price's contract this summer for something nominal seems like a win for both sides.

This is a real possibility.

If there is a team, I imagine Montreal is willing to pay a bit more for a team to acquire him so they can open up the wallet for free agents.

If there's a few teams, then the Habs are gold and won't have to pay much.

While teams might not be "poor" teams, if they're certainly going to be crap they .ay want to artificially increase their cap so they can save some money, especially if it's insured and they're paying even less.

unless habs are dead-set on playing the young D, I think the price on Savard is so inconsequential for a team with so many picks, they may just ask him if he wants to go play for another ring ...
if it's Toronto he may need an exorcism first
