Im still holding out hope to take Stamkos off of NSH as clearly its not working. I think he'd make the perfect vet 2C for the next 2 yrs and then maybe drop to 3C if one of our prospects hits. $8.5M fits our budget for a Vet Captain and SC winner 2C..

Not to mention the link with MSL and Vinny

Are he and MSL close? Do we know?

5y*3,5m$ for Evans is enough for him to sign ?

We’ll search for an Evans the second we trade him, like Danault. 4 years would be ideal

My predictions:
Armia to Washington for Boston's 2nd round pick.
Dvorak to Colorado for NYR's 2nd round pick.
Evans to New Jersey for Anton Silyev
Savard to Edmonton for 3rd and prospect

I think HuGo is waiting it out this year to drive up the price.

On what earth in NJD sending us Silayev for UFA Evans? Surely you jest?

If Habs win next 3GP and close the gap, with easiest remaining schedule strength in the NHL, I don’t see anyone getting dealt, in fact I suspect HuGo will add.

Keep in mind many of those teams that makeup the “easiest schedule strength” will likely be disposing assets at deadline making them even weaker….

Hugo already said he won’t spent picks on rentals. It’s hard to make players vs players trade during the season. Maybe an other Carrier type deal? But I dont know which youngster they gonna trade.

Keep in mind trading picks for a pending UFA and then signing said UFA passes the won't spend picks on rentals part. It's obviously a bit tougher to pull off but it's not out of the question either.

Evans is having a career year - it is an outlier. We are already seeing him come back down to earth.

It would be a mistake to not only keep him but sign him to a long term deal at a price that will not properly take into account his previous 4 years of rather pedestrian output.

For once, let someone else make that mistake

Depends on numbers. If you can lock Evans at 3m, I would do it. The cap goes up and give time for Beck to developp.

I don’t get why Hughes isn’t picking up depth guys off of waivers to just finish the season. Are they not at 6 defencemen right now? I think 1 extra forward most nights? I guarantee after the deadline, we’re going to see vets ending their seasons early. Guaranteed. Then who’s going to play?
Laval has been decimated by injuries all while battling for first in the league. I truly hope he’s not going to call players up and put them in a losing environment to finish the year, all while hurting Laval. Yes, they show still make the playoffs, but shouldn’t home ice advantage count for something?
I'm a Habs fan; not a Rocket fan. I honestly don't give a shit what happens in Laval. We "loan" them players and take them back as needed.

Habs take all those deals and run away laughing their assess off.

bro you are gonna be very disappointed with what we actually get for returns...

A 2nd for Dvorak is interesting

What's better than having Hutson playing 25 minutes a night?
Having a Hutson on the ice for 50 minutes a night.

I still can't believe we didn't trade for a 2nd after getting Hage to draft this guy:

I'd be surprised if Dvo got us a 2nd. I would think 3rd, 4th or 5th.

I thought Kovacevic had the potential to get us a 2nd and he got us a 4th. Kulak surprised in bringing in a 2nd. The market is different each year. But still, Dvo's production has fallen off a cliff.

Those next 3 games contribute a lot to having the easiest schedule though.
Once you remove them, schedule strenght becomes more middle of the pack.

I think they still sell whatever happens.

In what world are we getting a recent 10th overall pick for a 3rd or 4th line center having a career year that has him on pace to score 30 something points over 82 games?

''easier schedule''
you mean the team that lost to Chicago and almost threw against San Jose
yeah. 2 straight lost and we are probably again 5 teams behind a playoff spot.

Keep selling , this team can win games without Dvorak Armia Matheson and Evans / Newhook Dach Savard.
