Yeah that’s not ideal. Not sure St Louis would even deal him but he’d be almost a perfect fit for us to take the next step.

Recall his present deal with Avs took a while to get completed, and he missed a portion of training camp. I don’t think he wants to take it easy, he simply wants to get paid & Canes don’t traditionally hand out large bonuses as part of contracts

Also need to keep in mind Rantanen did not reject the Canes offer, he simply asked for more time to think it over, which is his right

Carolina reportedly offered the big numbers. He simply didn't accept it yet. I find it stupid that Carolina would trade Necas without having talk to spend money to sign him

NTC not a NMC but you’re right, I doubt he says yes to Montreal

But his agent is Price and Gallagher’s agent (along with Dach and Slaf). Two examples of guys from out West absolutely loving their time in Montreal. So you never know.

Necas might change is mind if Colorado offer a 9-10M for 8 years.

I think the ripping cap has every NHL player and agent excited to test it. A rising tide lifts all boats, the NHLPA is eager to see some new contract terms too.

I don’t get why Hughes isn’t picking up depth guys off of waivers to just finish the season. Are they not at 6 defencemen right now? I think 1 extra forward most nights? I guarantee after the deadline, we’re going to see vets ending their seasons early. Guaranteed. Then who’s going to play?
Laval has been decimated by injuries all while battling for first in the league. I truly hope he’s not going to call players up and put them in a losing environment to finish the year, all while hurting Laval. Yes, they show still make the playoffs, but shouldn’t home ice advantage count for something?
