HF Habs: Trade Proposal Thread #90: 2024-2025 season part III

Yeah it would most probably be top 10 protected. But you add Demidov and you replace Matheson and Savard with R.Andersson and Reinbacher and your not bottom 10 anymore.

What is consistently brought up against Mailloux (by himself included) is the work that needs to go into his defensive play and decisions without the puck.

This is what I've also heard, skating is an asset, brain isn't there yet,

all the tools, waiting to see if he can put em in a toolbox situation

You never know I guess. 29 at the start of next year, imo....a decline in skating ability aleady....it's possible he lasts that long. Just not sure I want to give him a long term contract to find out.

I wouldn’t be willing to part with any premium young assets for EP. Demidov/Suzuki/Caufield/Slaf/Hutson/Guhle/our first rounder are non-starters, and I would go as far as to include Hage who is punching higher than I expect the Calgary 1st rounder will end up.

It has to be built around Dach, A cap dump and Calgary’s first. Anything more than that is too much risk for me on this player. I’m not even sure I’m willing to include Calgary’s first unless it ends up being a later pick.

I'm of a similar thought, especially given how much he appears to struggle with the Vancouver media scrutiny. Talent is obvious, but are the compete & maturity levels high enough to handle being a star in the big hockey market? Doesn't look like that so far...

Because of the rising cap, and our bevvy of other young talent, I'd be more open to both our 1sts being on the table... But no way I'd match the best offer the nucks will likely get. Teams like Columbus, Buffalo, Utah, NYI et. have the need, assets and market that seem a far better fit.

Dach is an astronomical downgrade on Pettersson.

Any potential deal swapping both players would involve us adding a considerable amount on top of just Dach. I think something around Dach+Caufield+one of our 1sts MIGHT get it done, anything less than that and there's 0 reason for Vancouver to stay on the phone.

He shouldn't, but...

Till the end of the season and potentially into the playoffs is where teams will be keeping a close eye on Pettersson.

He's struggled. Rift between he and Miller and neither was really playing well and then Miller was traded. Pettersson is still very meh.

He isn't good on the dot.
He isn't physical.
He does do a little bit of PKing.
Vancouver isn't going to sell low on him.

You're paying premium assets to acquire a player who you're going to hope can get back to around 90 points and you're giving up 10% of your cap for a guy who doesn't do a lot outside of creating offense, so if he isn't doing that he isnt really doing anything.

If you can trade Calgary's 1st, Dach, Newhook and Mesar for him, by all means I'd take that risk, but you're likely giving up a better roster player, 1 of the firsts and a top 5/7prospect for him and then hoping he can get back to what he did before.

With all that said the latest rumours are that he's no longer on the block.

Is he? Dach is on pace for like 35 pts and EP is on pace for like 55 pts. It’s not like either are living up to expectations, one is on the books for 3.3M for 1 more year and EP for 11.6M for another 7 years. There is MASSIVE risk attached to that contract.

If you send Caufield the other way, you’ve already lost the trade.

Caufield will score big goals in the playoffs, EP has trouble showing up for the regular season at this point.

That’s why I said it’s what I’d be willing to pay for this player, because it’s what I’m willing to pay. Which isn’t much, frankly given his play I doubt they get a much better offer than what I’ve tabled and if they did, kudos to them because they just suckered someone.

Dach is not even close to be at EP level though. Even Caufield haven’t been close to what EP have done.

In fact any players in the Habs lineup have EP potential sa game breaker

Dude, he’s on pace for 55pts at 11.6M.

He’s got a short window to redeem himself or he ends up in Laine negative value getting traded for Jordan Harris territory.

He’s soft as f***. It’s a massive risk at this point.

I'd kill for one of those Russian wingers playing in Columbus

Marchenko, Voronkov, Chinakhov. The first 2 are probably untouchable but maybe Chinakhov could be had for a fair price.

I wonder if they would even consider Slafkovsky for Marchenko or Voronkov
