HF Habs: Trade Proposal Thread #90: 2024-2025 season part III

NYI looking to sacrifice Dobson to get a top offensive talent.

We'd have to find a 3rd team to trade our 1st to who wants to, for some reason, give up such a player. We may have to add too.
It would be kind of weird giving up our first in a deal with a top offensive forward going to the NYI when our foremost need is a top offensive forward who can play center? I still think we need the forward first and can get through another season with Matheson playing RD if it comes to that.

Priority is still a 2C.

As you mention, without icing a Cup-winning D-Corps yet next year (not a big deal since we're definitely not ripe to win a Cup yet), we can play next year with Matheson alongside Hutson on the right side, at east until next year's trade deadline when Matheson will likely be moved.

Carrier can play all year with Guhle as he diid, reasonably well at that, when we acquired him.

Reinbacher can start off on a 3rd pairing alongside Xhekaj until the deadline when, hopefully, he's ready for duties alongside Hutson. Mailloux can the get a hard look alongside Xhekaj.

Marner has 50 points in 57 playoff games. I don't think he would be the problem.

hes also above ppg in his career. Clearly he would totally sink our franchise

...and again, it's all about cookies, right??...Marner WILTS come Playoff time; all that Free Ice he dipsy-doodles around doesn't exist in the Playoffs...someone else can pay him 13-14 mill to be a great REGULAR SEASON player...

Yet people are about to pay Rantanen 14m for a guy that can't drive a line by himself who has been heavily carried by Mackinnon. I don't know. He can play both side of the ice. Crazy how Kadri looked like a clown in Toronto and shined in Colorado. It's almost like Toronto aint pretty everyday like here in Montreal. Our team is gross id rather sink 13m into Marner than 7.5m to Slaf

Slafkovsky 121 hits

Caufield 42
Suzuki 44
Marner 32
Altogether beautiful 118 hits. I guess the result is clear, unless you are totally blind.
How many of those hits actually hurt people… or recovered the puck? 6-7?

Habs can't even make the playoffs, so Marner would help with that. Plus you're adding a 90 point player who also PKs.

Problem is, he's probably going to ask 13, 14 mill a year...

I don't understand why people are looking at high end wingers.

The only position we may be stronger in than wings is LD.

RD, C and G are all bigger concerns.

Maybe signing a UFA winger gives you the opportunity to use one to go get a 2C or RHD?

He will learn to use his body effectively with experience. Also, he is big but I don't think he is as strong as his height and weight suggest. He will get stronger with time. It's just normal for a 20-21 years old.

At least he hits. He tries.
