HF Habs: Trade Proposal Thread #89: 2024-2025 season part II

With the 2 1sts that we have, and the couple of 2nds, odds favour us ( I looked at prior drafts picking where we are ) to select a top 6F/ top4D.

The downside is that player likely won't be in the lineup for another 3 years. The positive is where we are at , given all the talent we have, one more top end guy could make a significant difference by being in the lineup or bringing us back a need in a trade.

Or we cash in right now and use the picks in a trade to fill a remaining need. Centres and D may be a need, wingers are not.

We have to be very careful though. Ottawa gave up I think an 8thOA and a 12thOA in getting Debrincat and Chychrun and they failed badly because their other pieces weren't as good as they thought.

Any big moves for us should be reserved for the off season and draft.

Good stuff. I'm sure Gorton/Hughes will listen to what is out there from now till TDL but they are not desperate to make a move. It's more probable they will have better options near the draft.

I guess you are hard core tanklogist. Goes against what Gorton and Hughes been preaching doesn't it?

If a deal like Farabee and Frost fell in your lap would you pass?
Wouldn't have said no to Frost as a center. Farabee I liked him to but not a need.

Evans has quieted down recently and it's time to make some trades.

Let's revisit the Evans + for Nemec swap.

Armia, Savard and Dvorak all need to go as well. We don't need any more picks in 2025 -- so look to the future of 2026 and 2027 picks.

100%

Evans is never going to have more value than he does right now.

Savard is definitely going to be attractive to some playoffs teams looking to add experience on the blueline.

Armia should also be attractive to teams. He'd be a solid bottom 6 add to a playoff team.

Dvorak..meh. He's trash and I'll take what I can get. I'll be pleasantly surprised if there is much value there.

I personally don't care about the Bergevin narrative. Dvorak on a value contract for one year is not a bad idea.

Newhook should be used as a puck possession winger helping a center like Beck or Kapanen. Newhook full time at center has been tried by the Avs and the Habs also tried it here and there. It's not a good full time plan IMO. He is not a true type center and trying it would be trying to force a square peg in a round hole.

Beck or Kapanen are not ready for 3C duties. Not if we want to move up into the playoffs next year. We need options to buy time to evaluate them further. I like them just as much as other Habs fans but no way I am doing any penciling them in spots before they earn it.

Hage is the one I really like but he's 2/3+ years away
I have to disagree here. Dvorak, at any contract value, is useless beside faceoff. Lack of quality depth is hurting MTL right now and he's the no1 forward not pulling his weight right now. You would think that going into your UFA year, you would show signs of compete, but no... he's a black hole of... everything. If Beck was a LH C, Dvorak would have been waived or just sent into another dimension.

Maybe we can trade Josh Anderson to Flyers. Torts might love him and they might want his size.

I think Seravelli wrote Washington offered a 2nd for Evans at some point. To me that is underwhelming and if that is the market I would just keep him whether we sign him or not.

I think Anderson has value and a fast big body who will hit, score a few , plus Evans might be a nice package. Add in Calgarys first and maybe we get a nice C or D prospect with a high ceiling.

You know it happens that you see lopsided looking trades and you wonder why the heck a team made a trade. Happened with us and Laine. Laine may not work out but we paid very little in Harris and even got a 2nd back. Having a variety of assets and Cap space gives you the ability to take advantage of opportunity. At this point though I want us to be going for higher quality than quantity. So pass on a Barron and shoot for a Nemec or Andersson.

I would love to know what teams offer for Evans. Adding another 1st gets us a serious asset to use and there is no doubt in my mind that more players become available in trades near the draft... that we don't have on the radar now.

Dvorak back for one more year on a value contract is not a horrible idea. Stability is important and that Anderson / Dvorak / Gallagher line is underrated.
No offense, but what stability does Dvorak bring? He's quite literally one of the worst forwards in the league when it comes to on-ice impact. I guess he's liked in the dressing room but does that matter when he drags every line he's on down?

4 losses in a row.
time to sell and shop.

let's see what is on the menu KH
The market doesn't seem good right now when you look at the Hall and Farabee/Forst deal. We'll probably have to wait the TDL too many teams are not sure to make the playoffs right now. We also can retain on one contract only andf without retention the other teams will want to wait thr TDL for cap reason.

I still think we should be doing everything we can to get Pettersson, if the Nucks are actually leaning towards trading him instead of Miller. We have the assets right now and you don't get a ton of chances at an already locked up 26 years old top center. He's far from perfect, but with him on the team, we'd be ready to be aggressive next summer and really turn the corner on the rebuilt for good.

He'd be great to add but I'm not sure we get him without dealing someone like Reinbacher+

I woulf send Kirby Dach on a hearthbeat. Can't imagine a duo of centerman in Pettersson/Suzuki
