HF Habs: Trade Proposal Thread #89: 2024-2025 season part II

Probably, but Guhle is out, why not roll some dice ?
I agree with that. And if our next best option on the right side is Mailloux, I would rather see him remain in the AHL for a while. Boqvist doesn't have to play every night and if we falter he remains a warm body who would allow us to still trade Savard. If needed.

So I would do it.

Honestly thank god, he's not worth 8M... he's playing on one of the best team in the league and can't hit 50 points.

it's a shame. I really love the player, but he does stand to become one of the more overpaid guys relative to on-ice production. The tax stuff doesn't help, even if isn't the deal breaker PM makes it out to be.

Tank mode is back. You cannot have that D without Guhle. You need another top end Lefty in that lineup.

Wasted opportunity. Everybody and their mother knew that this team was playing over their head. And while they might not also be as bad as we see, they are not a mix team. We need more forwards and now, we need to go after a top 2 left D.

and once MTL has another 10 years of 1OA, they ll go for 10 more years of 1OA so that some people can Dream about how good this team could be…

Suzuki is in his D+8, CC Dach Newhook D+6, Laine D+7, Slaf D+3. If they cannot compete now (not saying be a cup contender, merely compete for a playoff spot), when will they ever be able to ?

If you go after a top 2LD who will likely be a PP QB I guess then you trade Hutson or you end up in the SJS Situation with Burns and Karlsson. If every cup contender needed 6 top 5 OA in their top 6, 4 top 5 OA in their top 4, there would never be a cup contender…

Pierre McGuire says a lot of things.

I was looking for insights from those who have seen him play recently.

I hope Struble can impress until we hear of a different option.

It sounds like it's too bad we missed out on Fabbro on waivers.

It's either claim Boqvist, make a trade or recall one of Lindstrom, Engstrom, Trudeau, Mailloux or Hoefenmayer.

None are particularly attractive unless it's trade for a top4 RD.

Same here, let’s claim Boqvist!

What about Granlund guys?? Off course depending on the price but would be a pretty solid 2nd line center behind Suzuki.

Unless he somehow comes really cheap or is a switch with Dvorak/Armia/Anderson/Gallagher, I wouldn't target him as he is UFA this summer and is 33.

"Is it possible that Jake Evans could bring back a late first-round pick? That seems like a stretch to me. I think the Canadiens had a second-round pick on the table for Jake Evans in the draft last June. This time around, the Wennberg deal seems like a good comparison." - Frank Seravalli

We obviously have to do it if there's just no way of getting him back on a decent contract. Still, he's worth more to us than a late first IMO, I'd much rather have him.

It's not automatic but it's certainly possible he returns a first or equivalent prospect. Depends if it's a buyers or sellers market this year.

I don’t get how it’s a stretch the Habs could get a 1st if they had a 2nd in the summer. Prices are higher at the deadline and he’s having his best season. A contender needing the depth down the middle will absolutely trade a late 1st for a guy they can play on PK1 and chip in offensively from time to time.

Id like them to start this yr at deadline changing the complexion of the bottom 6 cause you cant do it all in the offseason without messing up team dynamic

You have to start switching out guys like Dvo, Armia and Newhook for guys who are big and play with push back. They are too easy to play against and too many just go with the flow and are okay getting beat down

Dach should be in that as well, he definitely is not a top 6.

Id like to give Dach one last go with a training camp but its getting more difficult. He has improved but not sure its enough at this point. It was a worthwhile gamble based on pedigree and age, much better gamble the GivehimtheHook
...Dach might not be a C, but he's still a viable & valuable piece...he was much more comfortable & played better on wing...
