I really like our team like it is atm.
But i would sacrifice our 2 first pick + Struble ++ for a young stud that will be in the team for a long time and under 25 years old.

Dawson Mercer would be a nice piece.
Tyson Foerster
John Perteka
Logan Stankoven
Mathias Marcelli

If the Devils trade Nemec, they're likely aiming for a roster player that helps them now.

Don't tell a poster to say something that will get him an infraction for blatant trolling.

Yes, that is Evans with extension and the prime piece is one of our 1st (10-16 range). Then we add a B+ as the 3rd part. Devils can use the 1st to add improvements in other areas. The value is there and if they feel they can get more... let them try.

Devils are solid at RD without Nemec and want to extend Kova.

Devils need a 3C and it's very clear. Evans with extension fits.

Nemec does not have #2OA value at this stage. More like 5-10 range value IMO.

Ok, I thought it was Evans straight up and that's not even close.

How would anyone know? His agent isn't going to go and tell everyone what he's asking for and Habs won't tell either.

Only thing I herd was Hughes said they need to lower their expectations if he wants to stay in Montreal. Can't remember where I read or heard that.

Can't be asking for what Monahan just got (5x $5.5M). My guess is they are asking for 5x $4.5-$5M range. Hughes probably wants 3x $4M (max)

I thought Mercer at point last year, he seems not to be racking up the points.
not sure low ice time?

The Habs don’t need Gallagher’s cap space, but his roster spot next season is another matter… unless Newhook is somehow packaged in a deal for a more proven middle-6 C this offseason? I for one would rather re-sign Armia around 2.5M AAV than have Gallagher on the 4th line.

If Reinbacher is not ready next October, ré-singing Savard on a short term deal could provide an appropriate stop-gap.

As for getting a « rental » for a playoff stint, depends on the price; swapping Dvorak for Grandlund should not be cost-prohibitive, especially if the young core can get some playoffs experience out of it!

I prefer not re-signing Armia to avoid the dead cap of a Gallagher buyout. We will need the cap more in 3-4 years than we do in the next 2 years. Keep Gallagher or trade him (with retention if needed).

We can do better than Savard who is on the downward slope. We should be aiming at a top4 RD so Carrier can be in his rightful place on the third pair.

Hughes said they wouldn't spend assets to try to win now. If they get a guy like Granlund, it's with the intent to re-sign him.

Trading Gallagher with retention would be optimal yes, but buying him out to make room on the bottom-6 wouldn’t cost too much; 1.75M for 3 years out 4; one year at 4M, but with over 92M in cap space by then.

Savard would be re-signed as a stop-gap 6-7D to give some time for Reinbacher to adjust, not many players would be an upgrade over him in such context, especially considering his mentorship quality. Regarding RHD, it’s finding an upgrade over Matheson that’d be paramount in my opinion.

Finding an upgrade over Dvorak is another imperative, could be done in one or two stages; a low-cost acquisition for this year at TDL and more significant move this offseason, or a significant move from the outset.

Jake Walman LD could be a good short term acquisition.

one more year after this at $3.4 mil. He’s one of few on SJ that has a plus on the team. Logs 22 mins per game.

That Nemec comment came around the same time the Devils were rumored to be trying to extend Kova.

Nemec playing on a crap AHL team and one of the lowest scoring teams. And then he here's the Devils want to extend Kova. I don't blame the kid to be honest. If the AHL team was better, maybe it would make it more easier.

Come on Slaf, call your buddy and tell him to demand a trade.

I'd rather they finish as a wild card team than fall into the bottom 10. And no interest in getting hopes up like in 2023.
They have a lot of games in hand, if they keep this up we pick around 20, that is if they don’t go on a playoff run. I rather they flirt with 12-15
