Judging by Devils needs in their bottom 6 forwards group, I wonder if we could get Nemec without giving away a 1st round pick (which they don’t need anyway).

Evans (with extension), Armia @50% and Mailloux for Nemec?

Evans is a huge upgrade for them now and in the future, Armia is the kind of player they need for their playoffs run and Mailloux replaces Nemec in their prospect pool. Nemec has the potential to be a top pairing defenseman, but Mailloux and him could also end up being both top 4 defensemen.

lol come on now, this doesn't get you Nemec at all. You giving them a cap dump and bottom line player along with a prospect doesn't get you this player / prospect. he will cost a 1st

Some pundits are saying that Evans could command a late 1st if Montreal doesn't plan to keep him. I could definitely see that happening.

So in this instance it would but the value of 2 1st Round Picks and a third round pick. Armia is not a cap-dump, are you mad? He's having a very good season, he's going to play to Team Finland, and he's an expiring contract. Armia would bring back at least a 3rd round pick at the deadline.

Great let them "buy" Dvorak.

If they're buyers, that means they would want an upgrade on Perry, so we would give the better player for Perry+.

It makes no sense unless it's a 3-way trade and they need a place to dump Perry to make roster space (which is pretty unlikely as they would drop other guys before).

They have no need for Dvorak.

It’s also they way I see it. The way Armia has been playing, I think his value could be a 2nd if we retain 50%.

The value is higher than what Columbus got for Jiricek and it would help the Devils a lot for their playoffs run.

But it's not me just "hoping" for a superstar like Crosby. There is a history for him (incredibly rare) of his childhood dream.
He would not hurt the balance in the room. He has no attitude, just win.. and his contract is relatively cheap for who he is. And (if) he still has fuel in the tank after next year, then he'll sign the team friendly one year deals thereafter.
It's a once in a lifetime opportunity, and while i agree it's an overpayment, non of what we would give would really hurt us.. only Beck would be the sting.
If he wants to play so bad then dont give anything that much value . If he really wants to come here he would terminate his contract and join us. Simple as that

Maybe they need someone that wins draws. Come on bro, be a better salesman!

It's called being realist.

Habs don't really need Perry anyway, they have enough wingers. Assets are better spent elsewhere, like an established 2C or a top4 RD.

Canucks are starved for RHD. I doubt they are looking to compete, it's looking pretty bad there.
That is not what Canucks fans are saying, what they've looking for is a puck moving LHD, since the beginning of the season. The reason was for competing, and I don't think they're about to give up now. So ... Maybe that's more a move they'd do in the off-season.

Right now we would pick 16 and 19. How far could we move up if we trade the 2 picks? Just inside the top 10? Would you draft 16 and trade back? I'm not loving the guys outside the top 10 except maybe Bear and Mrtka although it sounds like they're making their way up boards.

I honestly don't see a gap between pick 16-19, and 25-30. There just doesn't seem like there is a lot of mid tier talent. the top 5 guys look incredible and then there's a group between 6-11 for me and after that it starts to fall off to a 3 tier of guys that seem like role players. It might be a good year to trade a pick for an nhl player that can step in and help this team win next year, but I would probably try both picks to move up, and even add a 2nd, to get inside that top 10. the talent really falls off, imo.

Take a look at their RHD depth compared to LHD.

Realistically, one guy that I think the Habs could target (should they decide to acquire a player at the deadline) would be Mikael Granlund from the San Jose Sharks.

He’s a veteran left hand shot center, plays on the Sharks top line, upcoming UFA, and would give you a solid option up the middle at a relatively low cost to acquire.

I’m not sure what the market price would be, but I’d offer a second and a third. This would give you a bonafide second line center and allow Dach to move back to the wing.

You’d have:

Caufield - Suzuki - Slafkovsky
Laine - Granlund - Dach
Gallagher - Dvorak - Anderson
Newhook - Evans - Armia
Heineman

Hutson - Matheson
Guhle - Carrier
Xhekaj - Savard

Montembeault

Well aware of it, but that's still not what their talking heads are saying. They were looking at Matheson and Powers...

Yes. He advocated to acquire Gourde, but i don't think it was as the 2nd line centre.

Grossssssssssssssss.

Mittelstadt is f***ing soffffffft
Both centers so it matters less, even then I'm just joking around. I wouldn't swap a troubled center for another troubled overpaid center.

Armia isn’t bringing back a 3rd. Devils aren’t going to accept a bottom line player who’s a free agent, a cap dump or 7th round pick winger and prospect. So yeah, you will have to give more

Probably 3 team deal with Vancouver. Miller to Jersey, Matheson and Evans to Canucks. Nemec to Montreal. I'd rather acquire Andersson though
