Yep, he'll go down with the ship. It would have to the org personally offending him or pulling a NYR on Trouba (which would never happen) to get him out of there.

I get that I'm on a prospects board so the bias toward them is going to be way more than any other hockey discussion venue but I would trade Mailloux/random dudes who might be good one day for Sidney Crosby no matter what, regardless of age. This isn't 38 year old Eric Staal here.


Understandable, but the bottom six is way easier to re-tool and build than the top 6. There would be less assets, but retooling down here rarely costs first rounders.

I do concede that the assets would be probably better spent on RD, but even though Dach has been playing better getting Crosby improves our Top 6 and our C's an insane amount.

Sure, but you are further emptying the cupboard which already took the hit of 2 1st+ Mailloux+Beck for Crosby. We'd have to do like the Lightning did in the late 2010s but with a lot less starting depth (and lower high end talent).

Crosby in a Habs jersey is a cool dream, but it's a trade that neither fits Crosby's character and Hughes MO so far.

Guhle was a 16th pick, CC 15, Connor 17, Barzal 16, Larkin 15, Sanheim 17. Now double that because Calgary's pick was in the trade. And you add Beck who looks to be a perfect future 3rd line center. And you're willing to give up that plus a wild card in Mailloux for maybe two years of Crosby.

Crosby has at least 2 good years left and would be inspired to play in MTL
but do I think KH can get him? NO sadly no

I think Crosby’s absolutely worth whatever is sent to get him and it’s not like he’s not a pending UFA.

That's why he'd flourish in MTL as a 2C. Reduced role, maximum excitement - it's his mentorship during a playoff run that is badly needed. Then he can sign a teamfriendly renewal 2 year term to close out his career, and join the front office.
