Friends plus money is better than strangers plus money. He's been here long enough that he's probably close with many staff and personnel.

Edmonton will pay up though if we don't cause he shuts down Mcdavid pretty easily when they play against each other going back to when they were kids. Oilers don't have any assets so roleplayers need to be overpaid through free agency.
No fox holing thank you very much.

2nd longest tenured Hab after Gallagher, I'd give him 5 years at 2.5M or 3-4 years at 3M. He may get more on the open market but I think he wants to stay with his friends

5 years would be his age 29-33 seasons
Seems like a low ball offer considering where the cap is going, its not even a a 800K/yr raise for the next 5 years compared to the deal he’s currently on (1.7M/yr)?

He could easily beat that in free agency

I'd prefer him, too.

I'd take that.
Not to nitpick, but how many more 3rd round picks do the Habs need?

It’s high time to package picks to land higher ones. They have more picks than they can realistically use.

From now on, fake traders, no return involving any pick other than a 1st or 2nd. If the counterpart won’t budge, then add incentive(s). 💀

A top centre is my wish
How many years now, have you had the same wish? 💀

Since when does that stop guys from leaving. It’s about the Benjamin’s, not the parkade or massage staff.

At the start of the year I would have definitely said Savard... big RHD... but he hasn't been as good as last year...

I wonder who they will retain on? I think they only have 1 spot... right?
Only one spot. Used on Armia would be my guess. Dvorak and Savard probably don't have as much value. Evans make $1.7m, retaining shouldn't be required for him.

I think if he continue producing at 50 pts pace, they might even get a similar return as Monahan or Lehkonen did. So 1st or 2nd + prospect. If his production stall maybe just a 2nd.

That would be amazing!

I'm not actually too concerned what we get. I think we will be able to trade all 4 of those guys though if they stay healthy. I know people want to keep Evans but I think we will regret his next contract... especially when Beck comes in...

Jake Evans to Calgary for Martin Pospisil?

Gives us a cost controlled young vet for another ~2 seasons. Gives Calgary an upgrade to help them with a playoff run.
Id do that, but Im not sure Calgary does. The physicality he brings holds him in high regard.

Habs are short at center and that would mean having to rush someone like Beck.

Some vet continuity is needed, esp. that Evans has always been a great example. You never once hear anything negative about him. Pay the man and have the guy locked up for term unless he completely takes himself out with exaggerated demands.

Pospisil plays center iirc.

I've seen some rumors that there might be an issue between Miller and Peterson. But Miller is the better producer (since last season), lower AAV and got a full no move clause (while EP no move start next July). That's why Canucks fans are talking about EP getting moved.
Miller contract not going to age well though. He would fill out #2 center spot. But Back to Big Apple best fit for him.
