It’s a business and they are treated like puzzle pieces but during this time they should not have to worry about uprooting their life.
Pretty much but some teams (GM's) like HuGo do their best to treat their players well. Drury treats his players like turds on the sidewalk.

There is a trade freeze negotiated, not sure of the dates. It obviously doesn't kick in for another couple of days.
No worries, these dudes have money, and new team mates to help them out.......
The Holiday trade freeze actually start at midnight tonight until the 27th.

Desharnais is very much a cap dump for Vancouver.
I don't see the need to burn the phone lines as Dreger is alluding if it's just for getting picks and a cap dump for Matheson.

They can make that trade after the freeze, before the TDL or even in the off-season.

I can see a fit with Matheson in VAN and Desharnais in MTL. Desharnais fills Savard’s role as a bottom pairing, defence-first, local character guy. He could also take some of the heat off Xhekaj where fighting is concerned. Matheson at %50 makes it an easy add cap-wise for VAN.

I’m not a big fan of Willander and I don’t see a good fit for Lekkerimaki. Build the deal around a 1st round pick + Desharnais and there could be something there.
I can see it too.
I don't know enough about Willander to have a strong opinion on him but i was under the impression he was a great prospect. Don't know if Vancouver are willing to trade him anyway.

Canucks 2025 1st look like it might end up top 20 so i think it'd be worth it.
They'd need to add though if MTL retains 50% and take on Desharnais.

Kakko must’ve really been hated by that organization.

Habs perspective: meh. It could be KK breaks out in friendly circumstances but we can’t take every project and gamble, can we?
For a second I thought you were referring to our long-gone KK. Then I realized you meant Kakko.

Unless the other team (or teams) wants to make it happen before the TDL. Then they'd have no choice but to be in it now.

Pay me a few million a year for playing a sport, you can make my life a shitshow, I'm good.

I don't see any logical reasons to want to execute this trade mid-game before the midnight freeze either.

If the GM is/was really working tirelessly on the phone lines, it must be for some other move.

Edit: That's just putting it gently for not calling Dreger a filthy liar anyway ;)

Isn't Carrier on IR? You can trade for players on IR?

But I guess that means Savard won't be extended.

Vancouver GM wants help for his D corp now, not next season. But Matheson might be too old for what Alvin is aiming for anyhow.
