That's literally Calgary pick and whoever the seventh best d prospect we have is. Like konyushkov or something. Hilariously bad return.

Internally, CBJ was (allegedly) worried about Jiricek being too dumb to be an impactful player at the NHL level, it's not a bad return... if they nailed their evaluation.

Smart move from Minny, their buyout penalties end this offseason (14mil to 1.6mil) so older established players can be signed in the offseason. Better to spend assets on a young player with pedigree.

No. Columbus got fleeced. Hard.

A late 1st, a 2027 (!!!) 2nd and a bottom pair D for a 20 y old, 6'4 220, phyisical, booming shot top RHD prospect.
If he is so good why were the Jackets trying to dump him?If you are saying the Wild gave up nothing then there is the answer. The guy couldn't even make the BJ's roster and they are as bad as we are

He's 20 years old for god sake and had the same major injury than Reinbacher.

Following your logic, we'll trade Reinbacher for a shitty package like that if he doesn't make the the team at 20 next fall???

So i ask again. Why did the BJ's trade him?Why would we trade Reinbacher? They thought so highly of him that they passed on Michkov

There’s a bit of a busty aroma but I wanted to see the Habs make it work, assuming CBJ was willing to trade in conference. Minnesota starting to gather some interesting pieces for the first time in their entire history

We should have beaten this. Hunt is the equivalent of Barron. Flames 1st is better than the Wild 1st. Faber, Buium and Jiricek is a solid top 3.

We traded around the same value for a middle 6 player in Newhook. I don't get it personally. He's the exact type of gamble you want to make as a rebuilding team. Not players who haven't shown anything after years in the NHL.
Jiricek wasn’t a Hughes a client though. :sarcasm:

Same here. Unless they weren't high on Jiricek, this seems like a pretty low cost for a RHD picked that high not too long ago.
Hughes:
1) Loves Reinbacher
2) Has Pascal Vincent in his organization and he can’t ask for a better inside track on a player than the player’s most recent former coach (though the analysis could be faulty)
3) Likely didn’t think the fit was right. Adding a defender who needs stability to this d-corps is basically setting him up to fail.

We have the assets to acquire anyone available but the trajectory of the Habs and the timing of the trade have to be right for all three parties.

That just shows how Jiricek's stock has fallen. This is a gamble by Minni. Habs have done enough gambles.
