That doesn't seem very smart. He's been our best goal scorer and is still young., Trading him for picks is essentially saying we want to keep rebuilding for another 5 years

Just spitballing. Going to take talent to get it, we need so much help down the middle and the backend... there's only so many moves you can make

Is Pettersson in Vancouver really on the market or is that just background fan noise?

VAN is my second team : I don't think he is on the market because he was just signed to a huge extension and he is to be one of the two faces of the franchise with Hughes long term. However I believe management and fans may be increasingly frustrated with him given his bad start to the season, he seems out of shape and to be frank does not play with a lot of intensity.

Adding one middle six forward and one RD would do a lot for this team without breaking the bank. Tanking is fine but you need to stay in games and be competitive or else you end up like the pre McDavid Oilers.

Get the team stabilized defensively and they can definitely score enough to bank OT points and get Ws. The PP is actually scoring (22%) and the PK is good. Just reducing the ES goals against would really change our record going forward. I think given the fact there's options at forward in Laval, I'd trade for a good vet RD who will be able to play with Hutson and create a top4 with Matheson-Guhle as the other pair.

Completely agree. Habs need a shut down D who can clear a net and stop a cycle. The big three of Weber, Eddy, Petry took them to the finals. Need more of that on the back end.

Adding quality middle/bottom six will also help greatly. Too many passengers with Dvo, Armia and Anderson not doing the job. Good news is lots of contracts are coming up and more cap space opening up. Not to mention the plethora of picks and prospects they have. No doubt Hughes will keep working to fill the gaps with quality players and youth to keep building the team to a legit contender for years to come. Just need patience.

The Canadiens are open to improving] at all positions. That’s the impression I got when I talked to other teams because I hear a forward with a certain call that I had last week. Then, I have another call and they talk to me about a defenseman. That’s why I think the Canadiens are open to everything.

On the other hand, making calls and doing research on the market is different than being on the verge of completing a transaction today. Of course the Canadiens would do it [a trade] today if they could, but it’s difficult at this time of year.

We’re not going to do anything at the Canadiens, from what I’m hearing, that’s going to hurt the long-term vision of the organization. The long-term vision always wins right now.” - Pierre LeBrun
Lebrun came up with another, more wordy version of his usual “working the phones” BS.

Ew, you cheer for two teams? What kind of fan are you? :naughty:

Oh man I'd love to add Carlo. Would be a perfect fit for us.
Carlo, Parayko... Yep. Exactly what we need.

Why don't the Habs just sign Clutterbuck ?

One year, won't hinder development.

If he plays well might be able to get a 3rd for him, but that's a stretch.
We've been thinking it for a month now, maybe Clutterbuck isn't interested in the Montreal circus.
Clutterbuck has never wanted to play in Canada, despite his mom being a francophone, I don’t see him signing w Habs

We need a big RHD with experience, that much is clear.

There's a name that was mentioned before the season started that might be available (not related with the Habs)

No solution is perfect and there's a price for everything....Seth Jones ?

Could be rather expensive in players and $$$.

SJ is starting already to make moves. Jan Rutta could be a temporary solution for our right side.

I would trade Caufield , one of my favs if a bottom 3 team was willing to part with their 1st ,,,
Nope...
If you trade Caufield it would have to be for a roster ready top line player who brings a number of different qualities every night.
Starting with size skating guts reliability and halfway decent scoring.
