Jets are in a precarious position with Ehlers looking like an own rental. They can not afford to trade prospects for rentals. Because they went all in last year at the trade deadline, and are not holding on to a lot of picks. Still need some depth on defense, specifically ELC depth, as the defense starts to age out in the next few years.

Nelson being the nephew of Dave Christian who adamantly wanted out of Winnipeg makes me less than optimistic he would waive to come here. Palmeiri has some value, but not sure the Jets go hard after him. Where he'd fit is uncertain.

Okay , so what would you offer for Nelson. Keep in mind your 1st round pick will be a late pick.
That's what rentals of his caliber routinley go for. The Jets just acquired Monahan for a 1st last TD. And Nelson isn't worth that much more as a rental.

It's a 1st plus something minor deal if anything.

I think Chevy and the Jets will have to think 🤔 long and hard on this most recent proposal!

Winnipeg in my opinion has a legit shot at winning a cup. They’re definitely a prime candidate for going all in but it has to make sense for them.

I don’t think they would want to give up both lambert and Barlow.

Also, if they’re going all in I think Nelson makes a ton of sense but that kind of package they might as well shoot for Rantanen if Carolina moves him.

True, I used AI to generate this proposal . Barlow is probably slightly lower on this list.

I actually want to see Winipeg win. You have the best goalie in the world. You don't get too many shots
Just puked a bit in my mouth.

Nelson himself maybe returns a first plus. Two firsts in value with something extra for both of them with retention is not unreasonable in my view. Maybe pick one of thr prospects and substitute a second round pick for the one not selected.
Okay, thank you

Maybe Something around Nelson and Palmeri for your 2025 1st and Lambert with no retention.
Imo The Isles could probably get Ritchie from Colorado for this package with/without retention

Tampa traded a 1st for Goodrow the year they won the cup in 2020. Im not sure if he was a pending FA that year

He signed a 2 year contract before that season and had one more year at $925k. And the Bolts gave up a 1st + Anthony Greco, a 26 year old career AHLer. So, neither a pending UFA, nor a 1st + good prospect return.

As others have said, there is no chance Lambert is included in a deal for a rental.

You can simplify the deal and keep Palmieri, he isn't a need or fit for the Jets.

A 1st and 3rd for Nelson is fair.

Depends on value ...how much do you value a 2nd line center over a fourth line player.
Goodrow was exactly what Tampa needed to win the cup. Tampas 1st was well spent.

How exactly does whether or not a team has actually acquired a pending UFA at the TDL for a 1st + good prospect and won the Cup as a result depend on value? I agree the 1st for Goodrow + 3rd was a good trade for Tampa to make, but it doesn't fit any of the requirements to be the answer to my question.

If you take out Palmeri this could be right. It depends on the market. We will have to wait and see

How can we know, you're not AI?

Not sure on the value making sense as Nelson and Palmieri are rentals

However Barlow has seen his stock fall since being drafted

He has 110 pts in 102 OHL games as 19 and 29 year whole which is pretty horrific for a mid teens 1st rounder who is supposed to be a top 6 player.

The jets should not move Lambert but Barlow + 1st for a center with 2 playoff runs would be a good move.

Brayden Schenn @ 4M for a 1st & Barlow would be a good deal
