I'll be so pissed if Rakell isn't dealt. These returns are absurd.
Its starting to feel like it doesn't happen. Dubas probably has his eyes set on getting back prospects/young players meanwhile teams are expectedly only offering a package of picks for a 32 year old Rakell. He really needs to take the best package no matter what but I'm not holding my breath

Brock friggen Nelson returns one of the most rising prospects in hockey, a 1st, and a 3rd.

Don't fumble the bag, Kyle.

Deadline is tomorrow and like all the teams who would be in on Rakell besides Tampa would still be in on him

Yeah there's still a bunch of time but I'm prepping myself for disappointment. Not selling in these conditions is gonna make me super annoyed otherwise lol

Honestly, there's still quite a few teams that haven't made moves yet. Still lots of time left. TDL day is always wild even though every year it seems like people want to say it will be "quiet"

Hes not a UFA, teams arent blowing their wads on term.
Yeah, which is odd because as we've seen in the past, teams only blow their wads if they get some term. So I have no idea if Rakell's extra three years helps or not? In terms of a rising cap, you'd think it would interest a couple teams.

Term doesnt usually get moved mid season unless its a hockey trade. Not sure if Dubas wants to be suck retaining for multiple years either.

Why would you want to move assets for a player signed to a moderately affordable contract when you can move assets for a player who will walk in 4 months and then you can pay double for the same, or less, quality of player?

Real life, legitimate NHL GM logic.

I don't see any reason Dubas should have to retain on Rakell. That will be a very manageable deal moving forward. If he's retaining, there must be a BIG asset coimg back. Moore, Clarke, and Greentree for Rakell @$3mil?

Salary has to come back somehow. Most contenders are completely against the cap. Some are fully into LTIR.

Dallas was never going to be on Rantanen but that could very well force LA or Winnipeg to do something stupid.

I mean, in that deal, we are the ones taking on cap. The cap is going WAY up this year and the next and the next. $5mil will be nothing. I'm not quite sure what you're arguing?

Teams are maxed out cap wise this year. Hence the retention required. And a lot of teams dont want to retain for years on end if they dont have too. Handcuffs them in the future.

The Jets, Kings and Utah missing out on Nelson/Rantanen is great for the Pens. You want a top-6 forward? Pay up for Rakell or go home
And the prices seem to keep going up across the board. Only thing is I don’t know if Rakell would agree to go to Winnipeg or Utah.

I also think Sully would ruin Brad Lambert who I’m not sure ever hits his potential
