Would be idiotic if they weren't willing to eat 50% of the cap hit.

Anyways, it's about three more days till TDL.
I'm not expecthing too much given that it's Francis we're talking about and I don't expect much of im.

So hurry up Ronnie...

This TDL is what I am going to base Francis' future on. While I don't quite expect a blowup, if all he does is move Tanev and Gourde (even if he gets moved), then I am done with him.

Francis is leading a weak, veteran heavy team that is going nowhere fast.

If Francis is phlegmatic and passive now, when he has serious opportunities to do something about this mess of a team, then that's damning.

No doubt but I just don't see a blow up. I don't see us trading all of our vets.

Bjorkstrand
McCann
Gourde
Tanev
Oleksiak
Burakovsky
Tolvanen
Schwartz

These are players that can be potentially be traded. But I don't see more than 3 of these guys being traded. Maybe 4 at most. But this is not a blow up.

Yeah not all of them obviously. The point is Francis has a LOT of ammo to work with here.

Yeah. I mean, he should use it. This team has no difference makers. Maybe Wright, in a year or two. Same with Catton in 2-3 years. Same with our pick this season in another 2-4 years. I would not be upset if any of the players in the list above is moved. I root for our team and the team sucks.

What it really comes down to if Francis willing to take some trade risks. Give away a proven NHL players like Bjorkstrand, Mccann, etc. for a potential start in a prospect. I have not seen Francis do that yet and I am not convinced he is the GM who will do so.

That's basically Ronnie described in two words.

Well if we don't extend him last offseason you could add Larsson to that and actually get a first round pick back.
Even with his play this season.

Though, we've got him for four more years now.

BTW: I don't expect much more than Tanev and Gourde(if at all) being traded and maybe a surprise trade of Oleksiak or Bjorkstrand(more likely than Big Rig, IMO).
Remember, the team officially seems to think we can compete next year and need our vets.

Well, you know........that sounds like anyone but Francis.

But hey, he did trade for Kakko and maybe he can surprise us(please Ronnie) again.

It really is alarming that they extended Larsson and signed Stephenson and Montour. Those moves are not helping short term or long term. In effect those moves put even more pressure on the GM to be something that he is not, that is nimble and creative to craft a way forward.

you do realize Right shot dman are hard to find so why the heck is it alarming that we re-signed larsson and sign montour.... Also Stephenson is actually one of our leading scorers

This team is a bottom feeder. Why pay a 30 year old guy to be the leading scorer on a bad team? In 2-3 years, maybe next year if Wright and Beniers continue to develop, he will be a hugely overpaid 3C on a forever deal.

Montour is another nice player, but what if the Kraken pick up someone like Brandt Clarke from the Kings? Then Montour will swiftly become another overpaid player on a forever contract.

I know there are a lot of weak teams in the NHL fighting for the WC spots but signing aging UFAs do have consequences, especially for a team like the Kraken who have their future ahead of them.
