What kind of logic is that? You add a top 4 guy to your team you improve your team. Sure would be nice to add a top 6 forward too, but there is no link between the two and you don't negate a deal that's there in case you can't get a top 6 forward later.

Logic is that if you go for a rental, it's because you want to make a push NOW. But in doing so, you have to recognize that this team sucks offensively. So you then have to add something up front offensively. If you don't, it means that you kinda go for it...and not. You either go, or you don't. Teams stuck in the middle happens to be....stuck in the middle. Once everything is said and done and if Petry leaves...and if we lacked offensive in the playoffs, lose in the 2nd....we will again feel like we went at it being a little shy. And we shouldn't.

Well that's pretty weird logic if you ask me. What was he supposed to do not get a top 4 D for picks in case his other deal for a forward didn't fall through?

Besides, adding Petry should help the offense anyway.
