Will be interesting to see Brock Nelson head to head vs Tavares tomorrow night. Former teammates and longtime Islander players.

Seeing what Joe Sakic and co have done in Colorado with bold move after bold move while Shanahan and Tre trot out the same stay the course uninspired vanilla bullshit gives me zero faith in this management team ever winning shit. They've completely pissed away their window.
The difference is that Sakic has a core worth investing in compared to what we have in Toronto. The Avs stars show up in the playoffs and they won a cup. What has our core accomplished in all their time in the playoffs so far? One miserable 2nd round appearance where we got our asses handed to us.

And that was after Dubas went 'all in' with getting O'Reilly and other pieces to make this team better. Short of something insane like getting Crosby, I don't think there's any move out there that would make this team significantly better than what it is now and make them look like real contenders. Minus well just hang onto our best assets at this point than bring in OK pieces at an insane price.

If Treliving does actually stand pat, then in my opinion that's definitely a passive aggressive message that he is sending to the core 4 up front that they're on their respective 9th life this coming spring/playoffs.

"2 of you 4 are up for FA this summer and nobody is coming to help you at the deadline, so you're on your own and if you want to keep the band together here you better have an extended playoff run"

I kind of like it to be honest with you.

Jets will get exposed as frauds again. One of Dallas, Colorado or Vegas will eliminate them again, mark my words.

I wonder if the goaltending is playoffs worthy?

I know regular season monsters, playoffs not so much.

But with their Cap Space and their draft capital they could easily add without hurting their future at all.

So make no moves, get bounced early again and then watch FAs walk for nothing? That's his plan?

The Dallas Stars are in the process of acquiring star winger Mikko Rantanen from the Carolina Hurricanes.

Rantanen, who is in the final year of his current contract, as ranked No.1 on the TFP Trade Watch List.

In 12 games with the Hurricanes since joining the club, Rantanen has registered two goals and four assists for six points. He has 27 goals and 43 points for 70 points in 61 games total this season.

A little premature?

You’re damned if you do and you’re damned if you don’t.

The thought of adding someone like Rantanen is crazy and might be worth the gamble if it costs mostly non-roster pieces. Don’t see why a team who wants to win now would want solely prospects though. Woll, Domi/Jarnkrok, Cowan, 2026 1st would be my offer. Maybe expand the deal and take Andersen back, I’m sure Matthews would be happy

This is just weird for the Canes honestly.. bizarre management

Lol, I appreciate that you're looking at it from a positive perspective but I don't think that's it at all.

I think GMBT is sticking to his reputation of being a meek GM especially at the deadline and then eventually adding a random useless AHL calibre player.

And he will end up re-signing both Marner + JT at inflated values, regardless of what happens in the playoffs.

I love that everyone is saying we have to go all in while simultaneously saying Rielly is shit, Matthews is shit/injured/uninterested, Nylander is lazy, Tavares is too old and slow and Marner is too soft for playoff hockey.

Yup, that's a team to go all in on.
And the reason they're still together is the confidence (pride) of the president and GM. So logically, they still believe in them.

For better or worse...

Because that window closes this year?
