With Nelson off the board and now Rantanen likely going to Dallas, there isn't anything left worth overpaying for. Just keep our assets at this point and see how it goes in the playoffs. Will have more flexibility in the summer.

I get the frustration with seemingly every contender getting better, but giving up two 1sts for Brayden Schenn and losing in the 1st round is a nightmare scenario.

I'd check in on Tuch.

Treliving is keeping his powder dry.

Forget Schenn, forget Laughton, the way things are going we should be selling Kampf and Domi for a 1st each, maybe see if JT will waive and get 4 1sts for him. Marner at 50% for every pick some B tier contender owns for the next 10 years.

Seriously though, we get 20+ mil to spend in the offseason, maybe a healthy Matthews next year, and a boatload of picks in a buyers market now that everyone else has been going all-in for 3 years straight. That plus I’d love to see their faces after they realize they haven’t been good enough to not have the plug pulled on them, maybe might see some piss and vinegar in a wildcard spot for once.

It would actually be smart to sell…I will say this, the Shanaplan has been a disaster. Marner holds all the cards. Sure stand pat but now Mitch knows he has all the leverage. The Leafs are literally like 3 years away from possibly having to blow this thing up. The playoffs was always going to be a huge sign on the future of this core group. Looks like Treliving doesn’t trust it enough to pay the price. If we get another first round elimination Shanny has to go though. Enough is enough. And if Shanny goes what about Treliving? You want this ass clown running a rebuild? Brad doesn’t even have the balls to complete a Luke Kunin trade for piss sake. All we hear is “we’re looking to get better” ok but how? Like what’s the plan with this organization.

Except that if people took a step back they would realize that neither Florida nor Tampa have improved much, and Florida is actually worse because they've lost their second best player with no guarantee he can return or be effective if he does. If Florida had acquired Rantanen, that would have been a different story.

Seeing what Joe Sakic and co have done in Colorado with bold move after bold move while Shanahan and Tre trot out the same stay the course uninspired vanilla bullshit gives me zero faith in this management team ever winning shit. They've completely pissed away their window.

lol.. that Brock Nelson trade is horrible.

They hit a home run with Necas though

Absolute garbage tier work from Brad so far. If he really does NOTHING he needs to be gone after their 1st round exit.

we need to f***ing load up on as much offense as possible, im sick and tired of hearing about f***ing defence when that has NEVER been the problem in game 7s

Colorado knows their core players will step up come playoff time, so it's worth being bold and going all in

The Necas trade allowed Sakic to spend and load up more with his other assets. You can say it's horrible but he's restructured the team very well this year addressing all its major flaws and set them up for a deep run. If they win the cup, nobody will give a shit. At least they're not afraid to try.

Any heavy hitters still looking?

Jets? They have $14mm deadline Cap Space.

They also have their 1st. round picks.
They have two 2nd.s and three 3rd.s in the next 3 drafts.

They're loaded.

Who is left?
