If Bath gets moved, I hope we can get a draft pick on top of a roster player that can play in the middle 6. Look at someone who's in a log jam on a deep team. Him training with Crosby might be enough to get someone like Rakkell but we're taking on more cap, so try to nab a 2nd rounder.

If Carolina can't extend Rantanen and they want to regain assets, join as a 3rd party to offer Bath, get back some assets, while a 3rd party gets Rantanen

Batherson for Troy Terry

Vancouver: Norris
Carolina: Boeser + Soucy + Ottawa 1st
Ottawa: Rantanen

Ottawa: Burakovsky
Seattle: Perron + Forsberg

Tkachuk-Stutzle-Rantanen
Burakovsky-Pinto-Terry
Cousins-Greig-Giroux

I think I added too much money

I think you are drinking or smoking something that affects your thinking. :) I doubt we get Rantanen and also that he would sign here.

Ottawa has next to no depth at RW & Giroux RW has probably another yr left at most. Trading Batherson would make that situation even worse with no scoring RWs on the roster.

If we lose two of the next three, I think we need to go in seller mode. No way we make the playoffs unless we get back on some sort of winning streak starting tomorrow.

All of Batherson, Amadio, Forsberg, Hamonic(lol), Gaudette, Gregor, Perron and even Giroux should be made available if that doesn't happen.

Baseless speculation to gain clicks online. It seems to be all about getting clicks now with all the misinformation out there. We could say this for every American player, but why don't we hear the reverse about Canadians wanting out of American cities to return to Canada? Most Canadian teams are spending to the cap now, Ottawa seems to be pretty close to it. Why aren't we reading about Nathan MacKinnon wanting to return to Canada & other high profile Canadian players? Sadly fear sells & we hear it everyday FEAR - False Evidence Appearing Real.

People have turned this into a political hell storm all because of what Trump said. He is only in office for 4 yrs & then this will all blow over if it doesn't before then but until that time it will be a shit storm because the media knows they get a lot more attention when he's around then when he is not & they become irrelevant again. I pay no attention to what is said in the media & that includes sports media they are just as good at generating clicks as regular news media. Don't believe it until it happens & given we are just fans there is nothing that can be done so why obsess or have anxiety over news gossip. 90% of the things we fret about never happen.

I have been listening to Darren Dreger on Overdrive.

Apparently Rantanen did not want to be traded from Colorado.. Dreger's sources say that Rantanen would have been willing to take a discount to stay in Colorado but his agent was never approached with any kind of hometown deal.

Since moving to Carolina Rantanen has not been scoring despite ample playing time. He is clearly very unhappy and unwilling to sign long term in Carolina. The boys on overdrive explain that it was a dumb move to trade for Mikko without any contract certainty. Furthermore Necas is playing really well in Colorado.

I don't think Rantanen will ever want to sign with Ottawa, so trading for him at the deadline would be a very dumb move.

Rantanen wanted more money than MacKinnon and Sakic didn’t want to go there.

So if we traded for Rantanen, do you think he would sign here if we gave him a ridiculous amount of money? Or do you think he goes to free agency and signs with a contender?

Rantanen and his agent definitely overplayed their hand and he’s having remorse now. They probably asked for the moon and expected Colorado to cave in or get close to his ask.

Colorado called their bluff and said fine, started looking at trades, got an offer they liked and pulled the trigger. Good for them.

If you didn’t want to leave and were willing to sign a team friendly deal, you should have done it from the get go.

He’s going to get a large deal either way, but it won’t be from Colorado.

He wanted to get paid like Draisaitl, despite not being nearly as good.

He had 25 goals and 64 points in 49 games when traded, which looks really impressive, but 9 of those goals were empty netters. Was on pace to smash the EN record.

55 points in 49 games when not shooting on an empty net isn't worth 14M or anywhere close to it, especially considering he was getting fed by MacKinnon and Makar all year. Hard to think of a more ideal situation for a scorer.

Sakic is such an unreal manager. Made the unpopular decision to trade Rantanen but made the team significantly better long-term, and it hasn't even hurt them short-term either, as Necas has over a PPG for them.

Not to sound judgemental but I find it strange that guys like Rantanen who play their whole career in one place aren't willing to take a bit less to stay where they're familiar.

I would get it if he wanted to chase a Cup, but he's already won one and the Avs are a great team still.

I think in Rantanen's case he was just way off on his value. Wanted 14M like Draisaitl, Avs offered 11.75M but weren't comfortable going higher, so they saw the writing on the wall and dealt him.
