I'm pretty sure that they have two spots available. Hayes is the only one on the books off the top of my head.

That's right. The Hanifin retention was on his prior contract, which expired at the end of last year, and they structured the Provorov trade so that we took on Petersen instead of locking up a retention slot. Hayes locks up a retention slot through the end of next season, unless he gets bought out this summer, in which case it would extend out through 2026-27.

i feel like they will make a move..but like..no one that has been talked about...like Andrea or Zamula will be moved for something silly

I feel like the Flyers over the last decade have kind of been going through what Montreal had from ~1994... I dont know... 2015?

The kind of refusal to acknowledge that the world has turned, left them there, and they are not the premium franchise and destination they once were, and are not "entitled" to be good whatever just because they are loaded.

I think it is telling that the Leafs also did similar for a decade.
And the Rangers... well... from the mid-90s until mid-00s.

All four teams just had it ingrained in them that they could outspend everyone else and would always contend. When the cap stripped that away (and tbh bad managerment of Canadiens and Rangers especially even before cap) they just could not accept it.

Lets just hope it does not last 20 years.

It certainly feels it is heading that direction.

not sure it happens til there is new ownership..or someone in ownership wakes up and realizes the old school days are well long and over

I agree with this entirely. However, the indication of this administration, and previous administration, the two that directly impact us today, is that nothing will change because they don't think its broken, so no need to fix anything.

How much is this refusal to acknowledge things have changed is due to the senior advisors? I mean, it wasn't long ago that Bobby Clarke said the Philadelphia Flyers don't rebuild, they reload. It seems like they wield great influence throughout the organization and that they have the attention and ear of Dan Hilferty.

Any time you mention the Clarke Effect on FB some deluded imbecile always replies "He's not in the organization anymore." He doesn't NEED to be in it anymore because his cult now runs on autopilot.

Losers like Risto and Laughton embrace the loser culture. Listening to these clowns praise how much they want to stay and continue to lose is the perfect description of the Flyers the last 10 yrs.

Team full of pricey guys that just love the status quo and have no desire to play on a top team and compete in the playoffs.

Nearly two years into Briere’s tenure.

No closer to finding a top centre man, top defenseman, or a true top goaltender.

He’s managed to find a way to gather a few picks outside of the prime spots in the first round.

Fire this fool.

I mean they only fired Fletcher because fans lost faith in him & it was going to affect ticket sales. They didn’t actually think he was doing a bad job according to Charlie O’Connor.

So it’s not really surprising you’re getting a continuation of his era but with new people who all worked under him.

I think if you’re Carolina you gotta keep Rantanen past the deadline. You’re a contender. His PDO is awfully unsustainable right now (I know their front office knows that) which is the outside overreact noise. You’re a legit contender. So I don’t think you should move him as your team takes a big hit.

You’re one of the best team’s in the league at extracting value so to me that’s forgivable if you can’t sign him leading up to UFA. So I would stick with it.
