Trade Darnell Nurse

Starting next summer his full NMC becomes a 10 team trade list, so maybe it becomes more feasible. If it’s this summer though, he’d have to agree to waive the NMC.

I’m all for kicking Darnell down the road. Too many seasons of him half assing his position and just being dumb at playing it.

Curious though…

To move him, he will need assets attached and retention. So too will Jarry. Can we do both? If not, which one is more dire…

Realistically if Nurse even agreed to waive it is probably a 1st plus Howard so i'd say no.

Or we take a bad conract back and If so what is the point

How do you get better by burying a 9.25M player in your 3rd pair then. He can’t play top 4 and sops up a lot of AAV. We can’t have it both ways.

I would rather move Jarry if we need the money. 2 years left probably could be moved for a lot less than Nurse. Maybe Howard, A 1st or Hutson plus 2nd?

Jarry does not seem to be emotionally very strong and I think he could fall apart at any point of the season.

I agree he should be gone. I just feel like Howard plus a 1st is too much ammo to move Nurse. We are in a crap spot as a team because our assets are thin.

I thought Nurse played better with Murphy and could be a average or slightly below average 3rd pair for us, but on the flip side Jarry and his 5.3 is a very expensive back up goalie.

Jarry is cheaper to move, but yeah i'd love if Nurse got a Marian Hossa type allergic reaction or some shit.

That is a fireable cause then. Everyone makes mistakes, but real leaders admit so and then pivot to correct. He can plain f*** right off to ChiTown if so.
It's real bad man, thankfully we have Leon saying it like it is. Nobody talks in front of media like that, but i'm assuming his words in the past privately fell on deaf ears.

Connor is too classy to come out and say that stuff but, you know he shares the same view.

At the end of the day Leon is going to say all this stuff and WAY MORE to the owner. How Bowman survives that would be beyond me, but we have had such shit managers year over year that it would not surprise me one bit if Bowman and JJ come back. Stan Bowman would not clean shoes on my team.

Nurse has far more control over his destination this summer than next so there is his incentive to move this summer. If the team expressed to him they want to move him not many players want to play where they are not wanted, especially when it leaks out he blocked a trade and the fans suddenly are booing your ass off every time you touch a puck in your home arena.

His contract makes him untradable. Let's say he's traded to Colorado, you want to be the one to explain to Makar why he makes less than Nurse? He is a good player but no one wants his salary hit. The only other things I can see is to take another over paid player back or a buyout. Otherwise I am sure he is happy to be where he is making what he makes.

He had a 70% GF 5v5 in the playoffs. He was on the ice for 7GF and 3GA. He isnt the problem, albeit overpaid. Hes also one of the few vocal guys that this team has.

The problem with trading Nurse is you arent going to get value floor him. Just moving him out for cap purposes doesnt help when you look at UFA pool and overpay a 32 year old Trouba or 36 year old Carlson?

Probably not as ppl have said though if the team really wants to move on from him maybe he will waive it. Even still some team would have to agree to this pylon. I would rather a starting goalie and then worry about nurse next summer when he can give a list of teams.

It has to be this summer.
They sgould do bold moves and need that capspace.
A top6 forward for McD is needed. And it aint Roslovic.

On Puckpedia, starting next summer, it says a 10 team no-trade list. So doesn't this mean there would be 21 teams we could trade him to?
Apologies in advance if I'm mistaken, but I was just asking for some clarity.

I think that's a very small and selective sample size to prove that Nurse isn't the problem.

He is actively harming this team's chances and has been for years.

I don't think Makar is going to worry much after the Avs extend him this summer for 15+ million. When Nurse gets traded the Oilers will be retaining around 2.5 million which essentially makes him a 6.5 million player.
