Mailloux I think is the logical choice here.
Joshua Roy - a guy I love - is another candidate. I figured he’d put up numbers similar to the ones Heineman had before injury. I thought he could put up 40 points with somewhere close to 20 goals and pace for a top ten Calder finish. Unfortunately he didn’t join the team at the start of the year and when it was time for his call up he got hurt.
Now I’m not sure where he slots on this team. Is there a spot for him? I’m not sure. But he’s way too good a prospect to just let die in the vine. If we’re not going to slot him in, I want to see him packaged somewhere where he can have a shot. I think with a veteran group of forwards he could do really well. If Pittsburgh isn’t moving on from Crosby/Malkin it would be ideal. They badly need an injection of youth and he could learn under some great players.
