They’d have to move more than Hartman to make it work.

I think it’s pretty likely Jiricek is on the roster next season and Bogosian is the #7D.

Khus I see signing for more than $1M. He’s shown some very strong improvement lately & I think the floor of his extension is $1.5M.

With the way Rossi is playing, I don’t think he’s accepting a bridge deal near $6M either. Too much risk for him. He’s going to want $7.5M+ long-term after this season IMO.

This is where signing Wallstedt prematurely, extending Foligno/Hartman/Zucc and signing Trenin has bit Guerin in the ass. This was the offseason when they could’ve really done some damage if he managed the cap better.
I think I know a guy with a $7.5M cap hit that we could move if needed to add a superstar.

There've been a few articles regarding Marco Rossi & Marco Kasper around those games vs. Red Wings in the Austrian press. Basically some of them where saying that the Red Wings are already sold on Kasper but the Wild hesitate about Rossi and you can see that how differently the franchises treat them. They also wrote that Rossi might not play for the Minnesota Wild next year but that won't be the end of Rossi's NHL career.

I'm not sure if those austrian sports journalist are in contact with Rossis management and I doubt their background-information, because they don't write articles about hockey regulary (The sportsmedia in austria is literally all about Soccer & Alpine Skiing). But it's funny that even those Journalists can see that Rossis production is there but there has been no commitment from the franchise so far. Even they can see that something might be wrong especially if u compare Rossis situation to Kaspers.

Thanks for the info, Austrian Webster.

On his podcast, Russo basically said the Wild don’t want to give Rossi more than Boldy. I think he meant flat dollar amount ($7M AAV) but I’m not 100% certain if it was that or percentage of cap.

Khus might just be a QO guy. It only works with just Hartman if Rossi takes a bridge. That's the key.

It's not impossible. Brayden Point took a bridge after a 92 point season.

Guerin has already said that he doesn't see the percentage-of-the-cap thing.

So, 2026 1st+Lambos for Boeser and he signs an extension to stay close to home?

He scored 40 goals last year, but is otherwise a 50 point player (65ish point pace, but pace doesn't help your team when you're not playing). I wouldn't trade a 1st, by itself, for that unless a reasonable contract was in place. Is it going to be a reasonable contract that reflects his 50 point (and probably declining) contribution?

If he wants the most money possible, it's better for him to wait until UFA so I could sign an unreasonable contract. If that's the case, I wouldn't do the trade.

It better be for cheap, because he hasn't been great this season.

Crazy variance for Nyquist season to season. Close to PPG last year, this year on pace to finish with 30 points.

I guess he can't be much worse than Johansson, even if their production is almost identical this year.

He seems near done, which is normal for a guy who is 35 yo. Foligno has more points than him. If we get him, he sure better be cheap. Spending legit futures on him is crazy.

I would be happy to have Nyquist back, he was so good for us last go around and he didn't rely on his physical abilities to score as much as a guy like MarJo. Just smart, efficient puck play to feed scoring chances seemingly every shift. He would be a big help for our depth, and shouldn't cost us more than a mid pick in a weak draft.

If we can get Nyquist for cheap(3rd round or lower) or a Lambos/Milne, then I am good with it, as it will probably stop us from overpaying for Nelson. I don't think either player is taking us to the promised land this year, so I really want Guerin to save his assets for next year. He has got to be second guessing the jiricek trade now that he sees it might be a pick in the teens, not in the late 20's, and Jiricek has been more or less a dud down in Iowa.

Count me in for Nyquist if he's cheap. He'd be the type of winger we could play top six and he wouldn't necessarily look out of place. That's what we need.

I'm thinking Hartman is going to take over Ohgren, send Ohgren down to Iowa for top minutes. Hartman plays with Foligno.

And trade a 4th for Nyquist and battles Johansson/Hinestroza for spots - expecting Johansson to lose.

I don't mind that arrangement

My issue is that our Top 6 is in need of reinforcements more so than the bottom 6.

I guess it depends on what Nyquist ultimately costs, but I don’t think this team is a Nyquist away from making any sort of run this year.

Just feels like we’re going to waste a pick on a player that is going to be purely a rental.
