Rossi is tied for 25th in scoring amongst C's, and is still under team control. He is 23 yo. I think that he would sign for 8 x 7M.

EP 38th in scoring for C's. He is 26 yo, and makes 11.6M/yr. No thanks to trading Rossi +++ for him, and i don't know if it's even possible, cap wise. I don't think that we have enough "bad cap", or at least , tradable(non NMC/NTC) bad cap.

Word on the street too is that Pettersson has some issues between the ears. Maturity, commitment.

A couple of weeks ago, most only wanted Rossi back for a "cheap" bridge deal around 4-5m per year. I doubt that this will be enough, Rossi is on pace for 30g & 70 points in his sophomore season. Rossi also has shown now that he can score without Kap too.

He's gonna get more expensive every game he plays imo. There have been no contract-extension talks between Guerin and Rossis agent.

Your passive aggressive Rossi posts have seen an uptick the last few days lol. Will the narrative shift from Hynes hating Rossi to Guerin hating Rossi?

Still think bridge is best and I doubt 8x$7M is a viable option with the cap supposedly spiking. I seem to recall saying a bridge might be starting at $6-7M not that long ago (couple months maybe?).

And how about we wait to see how the year ends. Do you not remember last year at all? Rossi fell off hard in the second half. Partly due to linemates. Partly due to conditioning.

Do you think he is going to cost 8x$12M or something? What’s the rush?

Who cares? I'd rather wait to make a franchise altering decision until I have more information. There are a lot worse things that can happen than paying market rate to keep a good young player at a position the franchise has been thin at for pretty much it's entire existence

Petterson in theory is the type of high end center that you wait to shake loose out of nowhere and come available to pull the trigger on. You’d perhaps move Rossi and something to upgrade that Rossi spot.

The hope is you’d come away with an Eichel like coup. Problem is, I don’t feel like Petterson is THAT guy you feel confident about based on what is coming out. Eichel situation didn’t give you the warm and fuzzies either but that was never about commitment really. Contract would also be very tricky to fit in as well.

JT Miller I’ve always felt would fit in wonderfully here. He doesn’t have a sterling attitude rep himself but that heavily leans the other way being over barring. But I don’t think it’d be a problem on this room. He’s more complicated based on age, how that deal will age, and not sure how a trade would work that would truly make sense and fit him in here.

I agree. I suspect something is up. They locked up everyone, but have opted not to with Rossi. Now he’s become expensive. It doesn’t make a whole lot of sense and feels like maybe all the stuff Russo has implied about the FO just not liking him longterm is true. Or maybe I’m taking crazy pills and they figure they negotiate this summer after they have had talks with 97 about an extension.

One of the most recent 'Sota Pod (Christ I hate that name) and he mentioned that it seems currently Rossi is not currently 'on the block' and avail for trade.

it really is a horrible name. Present availability aside, I tend to agree with Luceni & Russo that Rossi isn’t a favorite of the FO.

Isn’t his agent a blowhard? Maybe they figure negotiations will get testy and don’t want the distraction

Waiting to see how much the cap increases, then negotiate. Benefits both sides.

I'm not writing passive aggressive posts about Rossi. I'm just asking questions about his contract situation because all I know is it could become very tricky for the Wild this offseason. Yes, they've decided to wait in Rossis case. Was it smart? I don't know.

All I know is that Kap's gonna need a new contract next offseason too and there's a big chance he's gonna set a new record with that contract in this league. I wonder if there's still enough money left to pay your young first line center, who is on pace for 30 goals & 70 points in his second season. I'm just wondering what cap hit would you willing to give him? Again, I don't think there is any chance he would sign a short term deal around 5m.

Like Guerin, most of you are still not sold on Rossi, I get that. But good top6 centers doesn't grow on every other three neither. Especially when he keeps his current pace up, I'm not sure how the Wild gonna make this work with the cap.

Lets say that Kap's gonna get 16m (it could be more), there will be no room for another deal around 8 million per year. You have to keep in mind that they have to resign Gus too 2026.

I know, 2026 is the year where the buyout-cap-hell ends and the cao-limit is gonna rise. But this won't help us with the Rossi-contract situation - he needs a new contract 2025!

I guess it would have been a smart move by Guerin if they agreed on a new contract last offseason around 5 million......

I think it's reasonable to see what happens with Kaprizov before knowing if you're going to want a little extra room after the first year of Rossi's next deal.

Also, if was shooting last year's percentage (still a robust 12.6%) he'd be at 9 goals right now.

An offer sheet would be mildly inconvenient, but I'm not seeing another team loading that gun for a 5'9" center.

I wouldn't be in a rush unless they were getting an absolute steal of a long-term deal.

If Rossi ends up with 25-30g & 65-70 points, I'm pretty sure there will be teams out there who might make an offer. Yes the compensation is gonna be nice (posters on hfboards overvalue them imo) but this franchise is lacking good top6 centers like forever. You you most likely have one of those now but they wild don't lock him up.

And why? Because of his size.

All his other positive attributes (hockey IQ, work ethic, etc) don't matter. It seems like size is everything these days.

if i we're gm i'd offer rossi 5yr 6.5 mill. rossi isn't going to another team and playing with a 1st line hemi super stud kaprizov. plus i think rossi is probably grateful we didn't give up on him. just my 1 cent.
