I like Hunt quite a bit, and someone said this Jiricek guy has some issues so I don't like this at the moment.
Hopefully he's gonna prove me wrong.

If it is a fact, we should learn how to spell his name right. Or should we keep giving all our euro guys the Uhgren treatment and just ignore their real names?
His real name is David Jiříček.

Hunt is going to be a good pro for a while. Got some value for him as he doesn’t really have a spot in MN long term. Other picks attached to him are not nothing.

Hope Jiricek doesn’t pout here as well because he’s not on the NHL roster without MORE injuries. The hypothetical of what he provides is definitely appealing but he has a lot of work to do to get there. Certainly not the no-brainer deal that is being portrayed with all the assets going out the door here. Even in a weak draft.

Whoa. It keeps getting more expensive by the minute. Did we just trade for Paul Coffey? What the hell....

Assumingly a late 1st, a fringe NHLer (who admittedly is improving and could play on most starting rosters I reckon), and few odds and ends, though 2nd rounder (admittedly in a few years) isn't exactly a zero-value asset.

In return, we get a high potential young player, who right now is in a similar situation to Hunt in their organisation but has long ways to his ceiling. This is amusingly like a NHL GM mode trade, where Billy just kept adding picks until the bar was sufficiently wide.

I like it, though. It was a bit more than 1st + Hunt as expected; didn't think it would get it done alone, but as I wrote earlier... intriguing, to say the least.

I thought CBJ made out well. Hunt can play, plus a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd rounder, for a guy they didn't want around any more.

I hope Jiricek is worth it. I get that he is 6'4" and has some skill, but he has skating issues, and i'm not sure that he is well acquainted with the defensive zone. I think he's a project, but a guy who doesn't think he is a project... as i said before the trade, it's a major red flag to me when a team decides to trade their 21 yo high draft pick.

This trade probably limits their ability to do anything meaningful at the deadline.

Even if this doesn’t pan out, I like the gamble. Hopefully he develops into a solid RHD and he has a positive attitude about his development going forward with the fresh start here. Im sure he sees this roster has more road blocks in front of him in the short term. He will have a great opportunity.

Man... all the CBJ fans @AKL and @Digitalbooya had in an uproar on the main board must be gnashing their teeth right now

This is best case scenario. Got yelled at because Ohgren+ wasn't good enough for the 1 for 1 they were definitely getting, they didn't even get Ohgren lol.

Making this move without giving up the top five prospects is chefs kiss for Guerin. Jiricek may not even pan out entirely, but this is great.

I'm okay with this. They're future proofing, not going all in now, and I like that.

Yep, I love it. Kept our big prospects and lost a late first (and change) round pick in a shallow draft. Not convinced jiricek will turn out, but even if he doesn't well be fine.
